This is a stunning example of a replica rebuild of an historic building. A small fee is paid to enter this large timber structure rebuilt using completely traditional methods Located in the middle of Goryokaku Park.

This former magistrate's office is a good small museum for the history buff, especially those who are interested in the Boshin War. It's nice that this is right in the middle of Goryokaku Park, a former fort.

Fascinating, great place to get an idea of the last great battle in the Japanese Civil War and to get a sense of the end of power for the Shogun Era in Japan. Totally worthwhile.
