Staying here in September. Quiet and peaceful. The hotels are clustered in an area at one end of the lake and are used as a base for skiing in the winter when I imagine the place would be packed. Seems a good place to base...More

Perhaps the best way to view the lake is to take the boat trip. Nice to feel the breeze during summer.

Another beautiful volcanic lake in Hokkaido. But make sure you don’t miss the moss balls. Very interesting. There are many things to do around the lake and a small village. Good day out

Stay for at least 2 nights or even 3. Great place to be in summer or winter as there are few things to do & see on the lake itself or surrounding area

Stayed beside lake akan and enjoyed the view during our stay. Along with the other lakes nearby, lake akan is a must visit for tourists. We took a ferry (meant for the Marimo exhibition) around the lake and it was koney well spent

If you've never experienced snow activites before, then in winter this lake becomes a venue for ice fishing, snow mobiles and snow quad bikes. Or if it's a fine winter's day just simply admire the vista and walk on the frozen lake.

We came to Akanko for the marimo, even though the lake was frozen. We drove on to and parked our car on the frozen Akanko. Checked out ice fishing, fascinating! Of course we couldn't see marimo in Akanko at this time of the year but...More
