There were hardly a handful of tourists here when we visited. There was indeed the view of a small island with a pagoda, framed by this temple (church?) structures. Beautiful and appealing! This alone is worth the visit. The caretaker was exceptionally helpful, despite speaking no english. She showed us to an old fixed telescope with a direct view of the pagoda. She was also ever ready to help us take some photos with the framed background.
Besides the view, the lure for me to this place was to see first hand how some Japanese practice christianity despite it being suppress...the statue of virgin mary in the image of the buddhist kannon said it all. No photography though.
I like this place for all its originality and thoughtfulness.

Tomonoura is not well known to people from Eastern Japan or foreign visitors, but it's a very pretty town and worth visiting. The view from this temple is beyond expression.
Literally, it's a Japanese screen painting of a real view.
Highly recommended place in Japan.

This temple is a very nice place to visit if you are in the area, it's a small piece of history and the story of the Korean diplomats who came to stay is quite interesting. The view is also amazing if its a clear day. The surrounding town is also very nice to walk through, full of old buildings and hidden gems

The view from the place is nice. It has a history of being the home to Korean diplomats in the past . Has a part for displaying the clothes and items used by the Korean expedition. The place has a small museum dedicated to various items of Japanese faith .
however , it does not take long to navigate through everything .

This is an old temple with a magnificent view of the sea and you can see the islands by sitting there from its hall. I think this a breathtaking view from its hall for passing some lazy times. There is a small souvenir shop in the temple. We also see a small exhibition of group photographs of the Shoguns at the end of the Tokugawa period. Our guide explains everything in the inside of the temple. This is also used for resting place for Korean correspondent during the Edo period, as per I remember from my guide.

A short walk from the Tomonoura bus stop. You could almost miss it if not the signage as the temple is relative small.
A old temple with a great view of the sea and the islands from its reception hall. There is a entrance fee and you keep to remove your shoes when entering the temple.

Sit quietly and admire. And come back again whenever one is travelling in that region. Breathtaking view.

We walked up narrow paved streets, and climbed steep stone steps. Last several stone steps finally led us to the top of the hill, that is the temple. The view from there looked more inland than that from Enfuku-ji Temple, which is located at the tip of the peninsula. If you don't have enough time, I recommend climb up to Eifuku-ji.

Fukuzenji Temple is one of the main attractions in Tomono Ura. What marvelous is a panoramic view from the grand hall. It seems like a painting. The temple is quiet. It is a good place for taking rest.

Average temple but the view was worth the entrance fee.
Some explanation about the history and a Korean meeting.
