April is good season. you can find a great yellow carpet. Also various birds are coming. I recommend to visit it once. 4月は菜の花が満開で素晴らしい風景です。 多くの渡り鳥も訪れるまさに野鳥の楽園。 観光名所としては全国的に全然知られていないことが逆に驚きます。

People have lived, fished and farmed the area around Fukushimagata for millenia. The present day park is both a great place to enjoy the outdoors and learn about the past. Walking paths invite visitors to walk around and through the lake and wetlands and signs along the way offer an education about the flora and fauna. A couple of preserved... More

Just did a trip during April. Going there is not a problem. If you are from Tokyo, take a shinkansen to Niigata, 2 hours. Take a local train to toyosaka ( 21 minutes train ride).
