This beautiful park contains one of the top three celebrated gardens in Japan. The name Kenrokuen literally translates to “garden combining six”, referring to the six attributes all gardens should have: seclusion, antiquity, spaciousness, human ingenuity, water and scenic views.

Lovely garden to walk around in a peaceful environment. If you are going to visit the castle across the road (worth doing and 2 mins walk away) then you can get a combined ticket for 500yen which offers a small saving. There are lots of...More

We had a JR pass and decided to take a day trip from Tokyo to Kanazawa mainly to see this garden. We took the Hokuriku Shinkansen line and booked our tickets a day earlier. The garden itself is excellent. Great photo opportunities everywhere. Miniature lakes,...More

This was the highlight of our visit to Kanazawa. The garden was simply beautiful! We spent close to 2 hours scrolling in this place. It is highly recommended.

This garden sits in the middle of Kanazawa, a jewel in the city, perfectly manicured and incredibly tranquil. As our guide pointed out, it is a garden of contradictory concepts: spaciousness, yet quiet seclusion. Everywhere you look, there is something to see, whether there is...More

This is a revived garden space which used to surround the castle (originally from the 1600's). Incredibly manicured, with a number of special sights to see.

Beautiful gardens worthwhile a visit. We visited in a very warm day and still we could manage. The trees, the tranquility and the landscape makes it a must visit in Kanazawa.

Nope no bikes allowed. But you can park your bicycle outside the garden. But the town itself is walkable.
How to get there from the cruise port of Toyama?

I didn't know the answer but I see someone else has replied with that. However, if you have the choice, get there early. It was very busy when we visited mid morning and hard to experience the tranquility. Have a nice time.
