Great cycling trip in a beautiful valley with ricefields and the village of Hida Furukawa. You learn a lot about local culture. The guide Miyuki spoke very good English. She is so enthusiastic. A highlight of our trip in Japan!

It's outdoors and away from the tourist areas. There are other great reasons to go, but your question was "what is the best thing". In my opinion that is it.
