What a huge place. So much more than just a couple of co-joined skyscrapers. We stayed at the Marriot Associa Hotel which occupies one of the towers, starting on the 15th floor. But below that is the JR Takashimaya Shopping centre, using up floors 1-11, plus 2 basement floors with supermarket and liquor floors!! Add to that, the access to the central Railway station, and a corridor through to the other side (BIC Camera and ESCA live there) and you start to realise how busy this place is. The Takashimaya Centre has a different category on each floor i.e. one floor for cosmetics, one for woman's clothing, one for men's, one for toys and so on, including Duty Free shops. Be warned - Credit Card damage imminent!!

It is a place for shopaholic. I would definitely stay in this station next time. You can buy everything you need and eat anything younlike. I love this place.

The JR Central Towers top the Nagoya Train Station, making it the tallest train station in the world. Splendid views are afforded from the tops of both buildings. Closer to Earth, on the 14 th floor, you will find a restaurant plaza--usually quite busy. On the second floor there is a terrace with a wonderful view of the busy city, with skyscrapers reflecting views of the towers back to you. This terrace is sometimes decked with fragrant plants and flowers, transforming it into an aerial garden. The lower floors are department stores, the below ground is a massive shopping arcade.

If you're just stopping for a night or a couple in Nagoya I recommend to choose hotel from this "megacomplex" (eg. JR Gate Tower Hotel) because there are everything you need for a short stay.
Train, metro, bus and taxi stations, huge shopping centre, lots of restaurant (asian and western cuisine), cafes, helpful tourist information, all kind of entertainment etc.
And if you want to see Nagoya this is the place where you can take a train, bus, subway or taxi for your city explore.
Only minus is that some parts of this building complex are full of people in certain times in the morning and evening.

The 2 towers house the well-known Takashimaya (department store and supermarket), many high end merchants, cafes and restaurants. It is also connected to JR train station and hotels (eg. JR Gate Tower Hotel, Marriot Hotel.) A great place to enjoy nice cuisines and great coffee.

Nagoya Station is huge. I like to pretend I’m good with directions but even I got lost at the start! If you’re arriving to Nagoya via train and are already inside the station, you’re going to want to walk towards the Sakura dori side exit (Sakura dori side is a long street that traverses Nagoya city centre from west to east, starting in front of Nagoya Station at a roundabout with a triangular spiral sculpture). Taiko Dori is in the opposite direction. You can also follow the signs for JR Takashimaya or Nagoya Marriot Associa Hotel (these usually have red icons which can be easier to follow), as both are different floors in the towers. Once you find yourself in the big open hall just in front of the exit, walk straight up to the doors and take the right hallway just before going outside (the sign says “JR Central Towers”). This hall is simply a row of elevators that will take you to the different floors of the JR Towers.
Floors 1-11 are the JR Takashimaya Shopping centre, 12-13 are restaurants, 15th is the Marriot Associa Hotel and the 51th is the observation deck. The rest are mostly offices.
In my opinion, the view may not be the best as there are taller buildings around it that kind of block the view in some places, but it’s free (compared to the Sky Promenade next door which costs 750 yen) and still worth a visit especially at night or sunset.

The good: it's right in the middle of Nagoya, above the JR station, with convenient connection to all the places you want to go to in Nagoya. The JR Marriot is right on top and that makes it a nice place to stay, shop and travel around Nagoya.

Nothing spectacular, it just happens to be part of the Mariott Hotel atop Nagoya Station. Notable here would be the metal sculpture at the roundabout in front.
Probably eclipsed by the Mode Gakuen Spiral Tower close by.

On the east side of Nagoya JR Station, this 51 story twin tower complex comprises of retail stores, business offices, restaurants and a hotel. You can get lost in this complex and most of the signage are in Japanese. There is a coffee shop on the top floor with an expansive view of Nagoya. Expect to spend $20+ for coffee (no refills) and a small cake here.
