Each level has a different shrine/worshipping area. The view from the small windows looks over the elephant water falls. The monastery and gardens with their interesting statues are so peaceful.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 November 2023

Awesome place. The 71m female Buddha is just amazing. You can climb close to the top from the inside for a view. Laughing Buddha is on same grounds, all close to elephant waterfall so would definitely visit here.

Quite a nice ride to see this pagoda and it is next to Elephant Falls. So you can combine two attractions on the same trip and even stop in at Chua Van Duc and visit the big white Buddha on the way.

Peaceful stop, well worth a visit especially if you are visiting Elephant Falls which is just a few hundred meters away. The pagoda itself is fairly modern and unimpressive but inside the main temple are some very large and beautiful Buddha statues. To either side are the main altar are two more large Buddhas with many arms which are very impressive.
Don't forget to check around the back of the temple for the massive laughing Buddha.

We visited on the day of the full moon when the pagoda was bustling with local people paying respects and enjoying a free lunch together which made the experience all the more special and festive.
I was really awestruck by the 3 vividly painted large Buddhas flanked by two many armed Buddhas, one with multiple heads, each growing out of the top if the next. The giant laughing Buddha (biggest I've seen) with the room in its belly is another highlight. Combined with a stop by the elephant falls, this made a lovely little outing from Da Lat.

If you're in the area, this pagoda is quite a nice place to visit. As one of the previous reviewers mentioned, it's not in the same style as most pagodas you'll find in Vietnam, making it a worthwhile stop. (The dragons and tortoises near the front stairs also make it worth a look.)
Don't forget to head around the rear area for more large statues, including a happy Buddha, and the gardens.

The pagoda is in a beautifully tranquil setting, large and imposing. A monk was eerily slowly beating a drum on the afternoon we visited, which added to the moment. There is no narration to explain the history of the pagoda, though, and it did not feature in our guidebooks. But it was a lovely distraction and a good place to pause and collect one's thoughts. Entrance is free, but there are donation boxes. Don't forget to walk around the back to see a large Buddha and the gardens.
