Visiting public markets is one of the techniques I use to learn more about my foreign destination. Observing locals as they do their shopping and vendors as they sell their stuffs, seeing the freshest local fruits and vegetables, trying cheap local foods, etc. All these I did at this market!

Making time to spend a few days in Hoi An is worth the trip. Yes, the area can be somewhat touristy, but the market is marvelous; food options in the area are vast; and seeing the boats on the river at night is not to be missed. We were there over Christmas, enjoying our stay immensely. We took a walking tour of the market, visiting some of the historic old Japanese home, which were very much worth it.
Be prepared though for high water on the river if it is high tide plus the full moon.
If you are looking for quality clothes to buy at a reasonable price, this is the place to do it.

This market is located in the very center. It consists of indoor and outdoor stalls.
Indoors are mostly food options, while outside they sell lanterns, souvenirs, trinkets,..etc. Nothing unseen before in Vietnam, but because of the central location you're sure to pass by.

When entering the old town a visitor could be forgiven in thinking when does the market start and finish, basically in our interpretation Chợ Hội An ( The Market Building), is where it starts, on the corner of Trần Phú and Đ. Tiểu La, from this point the first building is all food, the second building is souvenirs and stuff, also the imediate surrounds is also markets, the whole area, is chaotic, and wonderful to experience.

The area where Cho Hoi An bldg is so called Hoi An market. It’s fun to look around shops to sell souvenirs here. There’re so many shops not only around here but in the whole old town area. In the evening, the town gets so pretty with many colorful lanterns lit.
One of the characteristics in Hoi An shopping is that there’re so many tailor shops. They are eager to make silk dress or suits for you.

Great place to some leather goods. Great food, atmosphere and not to be missed. I found bargaining not too difficult and the people were not too pushy

Beware of touts asking where you from? What are you looking for? They take you to shops/stalls, which will over charge you! Then the tout pockets the extra!!!

Do not go to this place! They scammed me and ignored me when I reached out to them about my shoes. It’s horrible!
