Displays showing history and nature of Uruguay. It is probably the best museum in the old city. There are two floors of exhibits.

For me, it's the best museum in Colonia's historical site. It's a mix of history and science museum. You can find ancient objects and pre-historical creatures bones. Very interesting. You buy the ticket and can visit other 6 museums.

This little museum will raise a smile even if you don't venture inside. The outside gardens house some recreations of some prehistoric beasts and a giant skeleton, all of which make a good photo op of some silly nonsense.

Here the entrance fee is 50 Uruguay pesos and you have access to seven museums. It is small but a good place to start I order to understand the complicated history of Colonia.

I was running the treadmill of all the small museums in Colonia, and just walked in here with no expectations whatsoever. What I found was a beautiful old building inside, filled with just mad things. One room on the history of Colonia, another on bull-fighting,...More

We visited this museum as it looked interesting, but actually found it pretty dull. The downstairs rooms were all just collections of objects with very little information provided. Upstairs the focus was on natural history, but again with not much accompanying info. It was cool...More

Colonia’s municipal museum is the oldest in the town. It showcases historical items from different periods of Colonia's history including a palaeontology section. The building dates back to 1795.
