Eduardo Arenas has been collecting key chains, beverage cans, ashtrays, perfume bottles and pencils for nearly fifty years. This odd museum contains many thousands of these and other trinkets and gifts collected by Arenas and his family. Some farm animals roam out back.

This was a stop during a tour to Colonia del Sacramento. The museum itself is quite small, but is literally packed with relatively mundane items, such as keychains, pencils, ashtrays, and perfume bottles. Although it was kind of interesting to see a huge variety of these items, it still looked like an ordered chaos of a hoarder's collection. Regardless of... More

It wasn't what I expected from an asado, the meat was too cooked and of medium quality. Good point: the pencil museum is nice to visit!

I wanted to like this museum more, and it was fascinating for about 15 minutes. After seeing some odd collections of pencils, ashtrays, key rings, etc, you spill into a store that sells jams and a small restaurant. Just a quick stop for us. Perhaps a longer visit if you enjoy collecting lots and lots of pencils.

I don't want to call it a collection of junk, because it's beautiful collections of things to form art, if you will. They've collected so much 'stuff' of so much variety, it's almost comical. I can appreciate the dedication to make this place, very entertaining to check the details on everything. I saw garbage bins, to irons to keychains, and... More

We have been to this farm twice and I enjoyed it both times. There are many things to see in the museum and outside there are many old automobiles and trucks. Truely a place you need to visit while in Colonia de Sacramento, Uruguay.

I don't think I would make this a destination in itself, but as the bus stopped here from Colonia del Sacramento, I looked around. In back, they have a lot of nice Rovers and high end campers in the expedition/adventure category. Inside, a collection of pencils and things and Guiness World Records for the collection. They did have food available... More

Almost all tours stop at Granja Colonia on the way to Colonia de Sacramento. There you will see collections of pencils and keychains recognized by the Guinness Book. It is interesting, however the biggest attraction of the place are the jellies: there are the traditional like banana or apple jelly, but there are some with unusual flavors like onion or pepper... We went on a day trip from Buenos Aires, by a tour operator. Not necessary to do this! Just go to the Port in BA and get the fast catamaran over to Uruguay. From there get a bus or organised coach out to this spot. Worth going to visit. The owner has the Guiness book of records for the most... More

We took the rapido ferry from buequabus buenos aires to colonia. The ticketing lady told us it was a 1 hr ferry trip giving us 3hrs and then the return trip. Taking delays into account and you need to check in for return trip at least 30min early this doesn't give you enough time ( although all day might be... More
