A not very big museum, you need about an hour to visit it. There is a combined entry ticket, 25AED, which allows you access to the Aquarium. You can see a series of traditional boats, of different sizes, in this area. The most interesting section seemed to me to be the one dedicated to pearl fishing.
From Dubai, you can take a ferry from Al Ghubaiba Marine Station, which leaves you right in front of the museum.

Just after we visited the Sharjah Aquarium, just a few meters away is one of the most unique museums that I have ever visited. Next door to the aquarium is the Sharjah Maritime Museum.
This special museum starts outside where they have several original and various old boats.
The entrance fees are extremely affordable.
What I really enjoyed was reading the well documented details of the past history of the important Maritime trade; Pearl hunting; Fishing industry and the wide assortment of wooden dhows and pearl fishing boats.
Also there were many informative exhibits of the various Diving tools, Fishing equipment and Navigational items all used in the past.
Do plan to spend between two to three hours if you really want to gain new and unique information.
I feel that you and your family will really enjoy this special museum as much as my family did, trust me on this point.

The museum is above expectation precisely as a museum: there is surprisingly good, professionally selected set of artifacts accompanied by extremely useful (and concise) explanations in English.
Add to this quite well organized exposition in a relatively small space.
I do not know why this museum is largely unknown. We came from Dubai to visit is and the visit was worth every minute.
Highly recommended.

Located at Husband avenue, Sharjah , the maritime museum is single big hall with free entry and quite well led our artifacts. It shows the maritime roots of the Emirates and the sea going life in the gulf, especially about the pearl diving and trade.

A great little museum right opposite Sharjah aquarium and a fabulous “beat the heat” activity too. Gives you a fascinating insight into Sharjah’s Maritime history including fishing and pearl diving. Plenty of information on the surrounding boards and the displays are highly detailed. Very young children may get overwhelmed or bored here as not much for really small children apart from some touch screen videos for them to play with so mostly recommend for older children and adults. Another Sharjah gem of a place.

We had taken our school kids to the museum. It was a great experience. The exhibits were very organized and displayed very neatly. They were easily accessible. The interesting display was labelled in Arabic and English. We enjoyed the guides and the instructors who were also giving us the history as toured the museum. There were very colorful videos shown too.

Disclaimer: I geek out on both history and most things naval. That being said, I can't recommend this enough. It is small, true, but they cram a huge amount into the space they have and that's not counting what they've done with it. There's a few things going on, but I'll start with the exhibits. They have a series of reproductions of various ships/boats used in/around Sharjah over the years a well as two original ships inside, that's not counting the ship outside; as well as pearling items, fishing items, and navigation items. Next, they have a series of recorded personal statements from people who carried out the pearling/fishing/shipbuilding (almost all with English subtitles). Finally, it is a top-tier interpretive museum. The interviews, videos, games, and other exhibits make this a true learning opportunity. I took about 4 hours. You could take even longer, or a lot less and still walk way with a better understanding of where Sharjah came from,a well as pearling, traditional Arab shipbuilding, and fishing.

You will get to see all kinds of boats used in history. Also all kinds of equipments that are being used. But kids get bored in this museum.
