About
The Suwaidi Pearls pearl farm is located in the small fishing village of Al Rams, which nestles at the bottom of the majestic Al Hajar mountain range in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Established in 2005 by Mr. Abdulla Al Suwaidi, the world’s first Arabian pearl farmer. For the first time in history, the region is now farming Arabian Pearls in the surrounding seas. This historic development links the past to the future and is the defining journey from historic natural pearls to the pearls of the region today. Suwaidi Pearls had opened its doors to the public to share the unique cultural heritage of the pearling industry, explaining the historical evolution and inviting guests to see the underwater treasures of the natural lagoon. Rich in biodiversity and an area of outstanding natural beauty, all around are the gifts of nature. The area is a garden of paradise and a magical place that brings a serenity to the surrounding area.

Our transfer boat to the the pearl farm was terrific as we viewed the stunning scenery; the majestic Hajar Mountains, the camels drinking water on the shoreline and the mangroves which are regularly visited by flamingoes. We didn't see any of the latter although there were plenty of camels. The pearl farm was located on a 2 deck traditional wooden boat, with the decks covered in beautifully decorated arabic rugs. Our guide Ombaid was excellent, taking us on the journey of how pearl farming evolved in the UAE and its importance prior to the discovery of oil. Then we witnessed how the pearls were farmed and subsequently graded. I cannot recommend this experience enough.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 31 October 2023
- C588Dubai, United Arab Emirates214 contributionsOne of the best experiences in the UAE.This is one of the most interesting tourist attractions in the UAE. Perfect in length (2 1/2 hours), relaxing, exciting (informative), demonstrating the heritage of the country in a very nice way. As a bonus you can see camels, turtles and a wide variety of birds on the way there. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient. Really excellent.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 February 2024

Please Suwaidi, advertise more, and get your communication sorted. Email is hopeless, WhatsApp is much more reliable, but nobody knows to use this. We loved it.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 30 April 2024

I had researched it before our trip to RAK this weekend but didn't know if it would be worth paying 300AED per person so didn't book it. Surprisingly our hotel provided us with a free voucher so we went. Making the booking over whatsapp/phone was super quick. The tour left punctually.
The traditional wooden boat was shaded so we didn't feel the heat despite being out at noon! The seats were marked off so to maintain social distance. Luckily our tour had just one more couple so it wasn't busy. All staff kept their masks on throughout the journey. They were friendly and explained the different sights along the way. We saw a lovely camel farm with the camels soaking themselves in the water. Saw some pretty birds and almost saw a turtle twice (just heard it dive back into the water!). Cold refreshments were handed out on our ride over.
The pearl farm itself was so cute. The tour guide was extremely knowledgable and spoke well. We inundated him with questions and he was super patient and helpful. We learnt SO much! My husband was hesitant in going but was so intrigued once the tour started. Karak was served during the tour.
We went through the history and the annual cycle of diving/collecting oysters. The process and all members involved. After that we visited the boat the sailors and divers used along with their tools. We were educated on the anatomy of an oyster and the farming process from start to end. We got to pick an oyster from the aquarium and look for the pearl (60% chance there would be one) and ours had it!
We were then taught about the various processes to grade and price pearls.
From start to end it lasted 1.5 hours. I believe in the paid tour you are given a goody bag and also a lunch which probably takes it up to the 2 hour mark.

This is a great little adventure. You pick up the boat and after a short boat ride, you land at the museum. they explain how pearls were gathered years ago and they do it now. it was such a great trip, they provide juice and water for free. You can also pick an oyster and keep whats inside it for 150AED which I did and I got a lovely pearl. well worth a visit.

The whole family loved it!
We booked the tour departing Al Rams fishermen marina at 16:30 and enjoyed the afternoon breeze. Iftar was optional as Ramadan had started, but we did not book it.
I’d recommend the tour to anyone, interested in the local tradition of pearl diving or cultivating pearl oysters.
Thank you, Suwaidi Pearls team, for your hospitality and sharing your knowledge & passion!

Great experience, very educational and also harvested a cultured Pearl. Obaid was very knowledgeable and i would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn about the Pearl diving era of the Gulf. We also met the owner of the Pearl Farm, Very educational and informative day out. Perfect to escape the city bustle. The Dhow from the mainland to the farm is very relaxing. Staff are excellent.

The UAE pearling industry, which created a period of wealth back in days, relied on extensive expertise, from shipbuilding to sailing. UAE pearls were replaced by artificial Japanese pearls by the 19's & local Emiratis moved away from the pearl industry to the oil sector but still the past being remembered & celebrated, the Ras Al Khaimah Pearls journey was very informative tour give us the whole idea of the Pearl industry history. The tour last long for 4 hours including a lunch & boat ride to mangrove

I loved this tour. It was so interesting. The founder of Suwaidi Pearl Farm was friendly and fluent and interacted freely with the guests. The pearls at the small shop are expensive but so gorgeous. It is about an hour's drive from Dubai but definitely worth the drive. The farm is on a lake nestled in a beautiful part of UAE with a majestic mountain range in the background.

Wonderful and truly unique experience. If you would like to learn about pearl farming in a natural surroundings and beautiful scenery next to the water, this could be an amazing activity. 2 hrs experience including with boat ride to the pearl farm and back, this tour will boost your knowledge about pearls and farming. Obaid is so knowledgeable and it happened to be such a great story teller, that you will be interested to hear every single thing he has to share with you. History, past and the scientific elements about oysters and forming pearls. His conversational and speaking skills are fantastic and he will definitely turn your journey into memorable and enjoyable experience. Thank you !

This has been on my to-do list for a year. I’m glad I went. The group enjoys talking about the pearl history and how they farm pearls now - very educational.
I want to give it 4 stars based on all the trash in the water, but it’s not Suwaidi pearl’s fault. The city and companies need to do a better job keeping the area beautiful. It was such an extreme disappointment to see all the trash in the water.

The Suwaidi Pearls tour experience is completely evocative and atmospheric - you become deeply immersed in the culture and traditions of Ras Al Khaimah (Julfar).
From the boat trip out to the pearling farm in the perfectly mirror-flat waters of the Gulf, the coffee & date biscuits served onboard to the incredibly interesting and genuine sharing of knowledge on the history of pearl diving.
This was hands-down the best tour we’ve ever had the privilege of experiencing, and is a truly wonderful way to explore and understand the significance of Ras Al Khaimah throughout the centuries.
Amazing and friendly team, Suwaidi Pearls you stole our hearts!
