I like this place so much!! Saint Anthony Caves are the first caves monks dig up in Ukraine. This place is very very old. When you come inside you feel all that great and holy energy. Here are located underground churches and some people say that sometimes they see how the spirit of one monk goes through underground streets. It's a little terrible but also very exciting. Highly recommend visiting if you'll come to Chernigiv!

Very interesting and informative tour. I found out a lot of fun and cool facts, i deepened into atmosphere of that time and had great time. Please notice , it might be a little bit cool inside during summer time so have some jacket with you.

There are two levels to this monastery. On the upper level, which is nice even walking, and an opportunity to see the monastic buildings which are most impressive. After this there is a steep walk down to the cave area which is dark, with very narrow passages, not a good idea for anyone suffering from claustrophobia. However, the caves are well worth seeing and I would recommend that you have a guide to show you around both the upper and lower levels as their information is second to none.

Strongly advice to take guided tour. Very old place - artificial caves, buried by Monks about 1000 years ago. Also it is the esoteric place.Place of strength

These vaults are an ideal visit during the hot summer days, after a couple of minutes getting your eyes used to the dark you will find an array of linked rooms in one of Chernihivs best known attractions. You need to pay a little extra for a camera and taking one of the guided tours is best. The walk from the centre is beautiful.

So. This place is cool, but it's a smaller version of Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv - so, if you've already been there, keep your expectations lowered. For those that haven't, this is an underground church with the skeletons/bones of monks and saints. The coolest part about this location is that it's close to three other must sees - the kurgans, the WWII memorial, and the Trinity Monastery. Also. If you're gonna take pictures, you have to pay for an extra ticket for permission.

Oldest historical and religious spot in the city. You have to be where not late (before 16.00) to enter into the caves...The first cave temple and monastery founded by St. Anthony in 1069 !
Nice experience to explorer the deep underground system of caves full of spirits and magic...

The caves are not very long, but really amazing! You can see some underground churches, cells and relics. And it is still museum without stupid religious rules.
Also the place itself is very nice and calm.

there is some neglect, no plates and certificates, if you come without a guide - it will be not interesting.
there is a bit of bones in cells - that's all.
