A small amfi-theater and a stroll to a viewpoint. If your in the neighborhood or passing by you can definitely make little stop.

I got to the site in one of the local buses from Marmaris. You have to change somewhere. There aren't that many buses to/from this area so check out the schedule.
There isn't much to see. There is the amphitheater and the city walls. I had to do some climbing to get in and out.
I enjoyed my visit. It was good to see what these ancient sites are like before they are developed.
The nearby hotels, on the beach before and after the site, are relatively expensive.

There aren't organised trips to Amos Antike, because it's quite small. Free to enter, there is plenty to see if you are interested in Turkey's ancient history - remains of a Hellenistic Theatre, walls and spectacular views over the bay. It's not touristy or large, but it is beautiful. A tip if you don't have a car is to organise a taxi to take you there, wait and bring you back. We stayed in central Marmaris and used Konak Taxi, just opposite the Blue Bay Platinum hotel. Our driver (Muhittin Avlar) was a friendly, safe driver, rescued a tortoise from the road, came with us around the site (at our invitation) and took us back. Far better than a large, time-restricted coach trip to somewhere expensive and roped off!

If you have a family and half a day to walk about 30 minutes uphill to the ancient ruins of Amos, browse the ancient amphitheater and the amazing views of two bays (Amos bay and Kumlubuk bay) and then walk back down about 20 minutes to the pristine clear water of Amos bay and to enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch at Amos Beach Restaurant, you will not be sorry !
Getting to Amos Beach is easy with either economic boats from Turunç/İçmeler or renting bikes from Turunç or Taxi/Dolmus from Turunç.
When you see the beautiful pristine beach and and wonderful family who is owner of the beach restaurant, you will know you have come to a piece of heaven on earth. But most people don’t take the time to visit the ancient city on top of the hill which is a short walk from the beach - please TAKE THE TIME to visit Amos Ancient city. You will be amazed at the views as you take hundreds of selfies and pictures with your family and friends. It is a a very short (2,5 km) uphill walk through a beautiful residential area (this development credited with Aga Han architectural award) and nicely paved asphalt road all the way to the ancient site.
Take a bottle of water on the hike and when you come back down the hill make sure you taste the beautiful delicacies prepared by the family owned restaurant and swim in the beautiful crisp and clean waters of Amos bay.
You will have a family day you will cherish forever.

With the problems of reduced Dolmuses from Marmaris to Icmeler and Turunc, we were unable to board the full Dolmus in Icmeler market road and had to wait an hour therefore missed the connecting Dolmus from Turunc to Kumbluluk via Amos and had to walk up the undulating winding road. We love walking (we hiked from Icmeler to Asparan) but this walk along the car road dodging vans and mopeds and smelling the sewage system was not pleasant and the Amos ruins/theatre although free were nowhere near as impressive as Cleopatra island/Ephesus/Pamukkale-Hierapolis and the viewpoints already seen walking on the road. We were very lucky to have another British couple overhear us talking about maybe hitchhiking back to Turunc instead of walking, and they just so happened to also be staying in Icmeler and had a hire car to give us a lift.

Worth going for the views alone. The site itself doesn't offer a great deal, but is interesting for all that. Stout footwear will help.

We travel extensively in this area by yacht, last year we tried to find these ruins from kumlubuc but ended up walking in circles for an hour or two. This year we anchored off Amos beach and as the sun lowered in the sky we set off to find the city.
Waiting till the sun goes low is a good tip because its a long up hill walk. We were told to head all the way along the main road to the very end then turn left in the direction of kumlubuk, again on the road. The thing is, all along the first " main road " are " private" " no trespassing" signs, so we turned around initially to ask the guy at the beach caf again.
He reassured us that they really didnt mean what they said (?!) and it was the main road and is fine to walk through there, so heads up on that one!
When you get to the junction hang a left onto a proper road and soon you find the sign and steps leading to the ruins.
Theres a great viewing platform that gives a panoramic view across marmaris bay and beyond, worth the climb but stay away from unfenced edges, its a long, sheer way down!
Nice ampitheatre, scattered ruins and city walls still stand! Take a drink!

The history of Amos Ancient City dated back to the 2nd-5th centuries BC. The remnants of the ancient city are still available at a small hill located 25km away from Marmaris centrum, near the Kumlubuk Bay. The meaning of Amos in Hellenic language is "temple of mother goddess". When you make a visit to Amos, you can see the remnants of the city wall and amphitheater. If you walk on the Carian Trail, you can make a stopover in Amos near the Kumlubuk Bay.The hill on which Amos is located offers you many chances to take panoramic photos of the area.

Easily accessible by walking or car from Turunc. It's difficult to imagine how the buildings on this site were achieved 2500 years ago.
