This historical city was uncovered during an excavation some years ago in Nevsehir province, Ürgüp district, Sahinefendi village.
We were told that customs found out about this place when they caught a tourist leaving Istanbul with lots of ancient coins he had bought from a local farmer.
Anyway, the site is interesting although they have much more to excavate in the area.
In this "town" with traces of the 4th century Roman period, there are a mosaic meeting hall, a roman bath, two chapels and over 100 graves belonging to the early East Roman Period.
In the north of the mosaic room, there is a grave with a crucifix relief.
The moasic "area" has been protected by a large roof. Its mosaics are part of the visiting programs of tours to the Cappadocia region as we noticed cause we soon got company of a group of Janpanese tourist.

On the blue route in cappadoccia. A no entry fee place, no buses when we were there, tin roof over excavation. Easy parking, no entities there, but on the edge of a small town

These ruins dating to the fourth century were discovered only very recently, in 2002. A lot of area is yet to be escavated. We can see the Roman Bath area with its heating system, the Agora (market place), the parliament and meeting area, the basilica with mosaics and a cemetery. The area seems to be neglected with no security. Wish it was given its due. There is no entry fee.

really nothing much to see, not recommended if you are not really into history. bring water to pour over the mosiacs, then it becomes more colorful...but really, there are more interesting things to see in cappadocia

We visited Sobesos on a half-day trip to the Soganli Valley. There are some well-preserved mosaic floors and the ruins of a bathhouse. Worth a quick stop - perhaps 15 minutes - on your way to the Soganli Valley.

A very small ancient city,there is just a couple of ceramic floors,nothing else,total waste of time,the images you see may make you think it is a good place but believe me its a waste of time and petrol ☺

An unexpected ancient city literally in the middle of nowhere. There are striking Roman mosaics on the excavated level. If you like history, Roman architecture or the peace and tranquility of a rural location go and have an explore.

Yes... there's no entry fee or even some sort of registration- you can just go and walk around. It isn't too extensive but whatever is there- a bathhouse and a church/meeting place is worth seeing with good background info- the mosaic is well preserved.

I really loved visiting Sobesos. The mosaics discovered look brand new and it feels like a walk in Roman times.
My only concern is; the stones, mosaics, everything is there, open and there seemed to be no protection over the ruins. I thouht this must be one of the old baths constructed over the silk road for the travellers. How amazing !
