People dig small hole into the rocks for oigeons to nest their eggs. The would use those egg to make ink for religeous paintings in their monastery chapel and churches.

I ran from Goreme to Uchisar-castle and back via the Pigeon Valley. Beautiful trail and tunnels to run through. Ask the route before I left and could follow it easily.

Nice to stop and see for 5 minutes if it is on the way to your next destination unless you love pigeons.

Rug up, take plenty of fluids plus good hiking boots and then enjoy the walk. From Goreme it is a 3 or 4 hour trek.
