These unique rock formations of Cappadocia are like no others in the world. Over time, the column collapses. The basalt rock cap will fall and rest on top of the softer tuff rock layer. With wind and rain, hot and cold temperature, millions of year of erosion, another chimney will be born underneath where the harder basalt cap rock sits.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 December 2023

Not such a big place, but surely an interesting one. You need about 1 hour to walk through it all.
The historically living areas are quite busy, so you will need to wait in a line to be able to climb to some accommodation in the museum. But I would say that it's still worth it.

We came here as part of the red tour and really were chuffed to see this magical shaped fairy chimneys. I studied geography (back in the day) and wished I learned more about them then.. these are simply fascinating and really capture respect and time. They're unique and as such, we felt privileged to be there in person to see them. Would recommend

Beautifull place, we went there with low expectations after seeing some photos on internet but it was accually really pretty. Not expensive and much better for photos than instagram showes you;) Maybe it was the timing but it was not crowded at all and pleasent to wander around. It was about 30 lira with taxi from Göreme.

Majestic experience ❄️👌😍
It was a magical site indeed. Coming from a tropical country, the pristine white snow of the Fairy Chimneys sends me an ethereal vibe. I've only dreamed of this and up until now it feels surreal.
Eating Turkish ice-cream in the middle if it is ecstatic and the falling of snow wrapped our hearts with exuberance.

All over Cappadocia and Unique
1. Mushroom like rocks all over Cappadocia.
2. Magnificent, first place of spotting these kinds of formations of rocks.
3. Please don't try to dig and bring some of their parts back to your country as a lot of tourist did that and it damages the rock.
4. Remember to bring your camera and take gorgeous pictures

Visited as part of a small group tour.We stopped at more than one location to strollamongst these geological formations that have been carved, hollowed out and sculpted into storage rooms and ancient dwellings.
I could happily have investigated more, far and wide, and for longer ,had I not been in a group.

A really nice place to visit. The fairy chimneys are strange how they were formed like that. You can walk for a while and explore the different areas. It was hot when we went so we only last about 40
Minutes but you could easily take longer. It’s easy to get a taxi too and from here and no need to go on
An organised tour. A good tourist shop there as well with really reasonable prices.

Hi, can we drive through the fairy chimneys and if not is there a need to walk a far distance to see the sights? My mother recently had knee surgery and walking may be an issue
Written 23 May 2019
No drive to the car park. Try a wheel chair otherwise not accessible. The chimneys are a reasonable distance from the car park. Can be seen from there. Cafe and market to fill in time whilst waiting.

No recuerdo bien.

hi I am visiting Cappadocia in a few weeks time and will be staying in Nevsehir for 6 days. My aim is to see as much of Cappadocia in that time I am a solo traveller and welcome advice on how to incorporate all the places of interest at reasonable costs. Any recommendations on tours and companies that you can recommend would be a help.

Hi. You could book with any of the Tour Operators in Cappadocia. Most offer similar tour packages but at different prices. We used Gorgeous Tours. Excellent tour & knowledgable guides.

Tabii ki konaklayabilirsiniz. Yalnız buralarda gezerken bebek arabasını unutun. Yazın şapkalar ve suyu eksik etmeyin

hi can you get a taxi from goreme to the fairy chimneys and is there a cafe there please
Written 7 January 2015
Hello traveler. There are loads of taxis which you will find in the centre of Goreme by the bus station. You really do not need one though as you can see the fairy chimney's in all of Goreme. The open air museum is interesting. Also hike through the valleys; Love Valley, Rose Valley and don't miss one of the underground cities. Cafes are everywhere!! Enjoy your stay and exploring!
