We were on a cruise ship stop to Canakkale, Turkey. After a tour to Troy (which was wonderful) the tour also included a visit to this museum. It was nicely done with a diverse display of local artifacts on the inside display and then there were large pillars, pots, and sarcophagus displays outside which are in excellent condition..

The two most important finds, the two wonderful recently found archaic sarcophagi, have been moved to the new, unfinished and CLOSED museum at the Troy site.

A small, yet diverse and impressive collection. Statues, reliefs, pottery exhibits. Don't miss a stroll through the outside garden area after, lots more interesting artifacts there.

Canakkale was a pleasant stopover and worth the trip. It is a coastal town with much charm. The ancient ruins of Troy are just outside. If you have time, visit the museum. Although, the one in Antalya may be a bit more expansive. Both worth the visit.

Nice little museum with several interesting exhibits such as Hadrian statue from Troy Odeon and sarchophagus. I loved Aphrodite's statuette. The most beautifull part of the museum is garden where the stones, pillars and amphoras are scattered in a charming way among the bushes of roses. What anoyed me a little bit was the fact that in every moment one... More

The museum is poorly curated. Although there are some excellent artefacts on display, they are not shown to full advantage. The information is written in Turkish with no English translation, and in some sections the lighting is quite poor.
