Wonderful Place

Surrounded by Lycian tombs on the sea and on the land, this is a breath taking place. I am planning to go there and stay a few nights next year.

There were eight of us Canadians staying in Kalkan and we booked a day sail with the local tour operator. By a stroke of great luck we were booked on the Kekova II. The skipper and his mate were awesome guides and took us to great snorkling areas, fed us Turkish tea and provided a great lunch. When asked if... More

A touch of the Middle Ages with the castle above and the tombs dotting the harbor below. The colorful boats add a gaiety to the scene that make it look like a postcard.

Kalekoy sits below the ruin of an old crusader castle. you can climb up the steep path to visit it, amazed at the old ladies who trot energetically up the hill with you as you puff and pant, trying to sell you their wares! But it is worth the climb, not just for the interest of the castle itself, but... More

We sailed our boat to Kalekoy Harbour and did the usual tourist thing - visited the fort etc. Before we left we decided to lunch at the family run Likya Restaurant. We tied our boat to the restaurant's wharf and we were welcomed by Mehmet Demir, the owners son, who made us a delightful lunch. We stayed for diner as... More

You set sail from Ucagiz, call in at Kalekoy, which is the port for Simena CAstle, then off you go round the islands in the Kekova region calling in at the sunken ruins of the old 'city'. As our guide says,'this is not Atlantis', but still the wole trip is a must do.

One of the most beautiful parts of a beautiful coast. We sailed down from Kalkan and then in to this ideallic location. Up to the castle through very ramshackled paths and the inevitable rug and herb sellers. Great views of the whole of Kekova Roads, the take the chance to get up close with some Lycian rock sarcophagi before swimming... More

We visited here on a boat tour... and it was OK. I was not up for a hike up to the ruins, so we stayed below. Shopping was sparse and not really an interest to me. We did have some ice cream... which was OK. I have to remind myself, we did this at the end of the day long... More

Very good, exotic place. However be careful about the sellers in the village. They simply are unkind and unhelpful unless you buy something from them.

You visit this harbour in the afternoon of your Kekova boat trip. Steep climb up to the fortress on the hill, which can be a bit of an effort in the heat, but the view is fantastic, especially towards the sunken city. Then it's back down to a lovely cafe selling the most delicious peach ice cream ( they also... More
