I suggest that you make an effort to read up on the history of the site before you visit and, on arrival, visit the rocky cliff at the back of the amphitheatre area overlooking the river to understand the full horror of what happened twice in the history of this ancient city. Charles Fellows is not a very popular man... More

The ruins of Xanthos are most certainly worth a visit and deserves a good explore. The theatre is incredibly impressive and in amazing condition. The feeling of standing down in the area of the performance space looking up at the immense structure above you is overwhelming. Unfortunately the remaining mosaics were covered during our visit for protection but the architecture... More

Big place, no shade, so don't go in the August mid day heat. Worth a visit, really interesting. Toilets and drinks available on site.

Worth a visit, the other reviews say it all. We visited in off season and would have appreciated a guide, as the on sit interpretation was somewhat lacking. Fortunately I had done a bit of reading prior. Just a note on directions if you are relying on Tom Tom, it will take you to a village 10km away. A very... More

Its a big place spread out with tons of history, we happened upon a guide whom spoke reasonable English and explained some of the history to us. Unlike the UK you can actually go and touch and stand on these ancient relics All of Turkey is steeped in history and its taken us 4-years and we're still only scratching the... More

Excellent site with Café and toilets. You are allowed to roam across the site and wander along a roman road.

You won't need very long here, perhaps an hour or two maximum but it's well worth it. Some locals linger around within the ruins giving you information and trying to be your tour guide for a small fee, if you don't want this then be clear with them and they won't take offense. Tie this in with a trip to... More
