I had a great time learning the secrets of some popular Thai dishes. The Tuesday class made Pad Thai, Tom Yam Kung (prawn soup), green curry with chicken, and sticky rice with mango. I happened to be the only one there for the class, so I had a one-on-one experience. The teacher had passable English but I did have to strain more than once to understand him. We visited the market, bought a few fresh ingredients, then drive to their little kitchen area. He explained everything, demonstrated the techniques, then had me copy. I learned a good deal about Thai cooking, culture, local customs, habits, and shopping skills.
The kitchen area is partly outdoors with no A/C, so the afternoon class is pretty warm. However, I didn’t really notice given the engaging activities.

I have taken a number of cooking classes across the globe and this is by far my favorite cooking class experience. The class is led by Kan, a local grandmother who has an amazing character and speaks very good English. You start at the market to pick out ingredients for the dishes that you have picked for the day. Then you are transported to her nearby kitchen. Kan explains in detail step by step what you need to do for each dish, including substitute ingredients if you can’t find them in your home country. After some prep time, you then move to the stoves to cook your meal. Best part is obviously eating a phenomenal meal that you cooked. You eat what you cook which is quite different from other cooking classes. Highly recommended!!

We booked a half-day morning home cooking class through Klook. We received an instant confirmation, asking us where our hotel was for pick up that morning.
Karn, the owner, was punctual to pick us up at our hotel lobby. Turns out we were the only 2 students for that morning class! She first took us to a small local market nearby, to show us how and what ingredients to purchase for our dishes. Since there were only 2 of us, we had a little more flexibility of what we wanted to cook. She introduced some local foods to us in the market, and even bought us some snacks and coffee to try!
After the market tour, she took us back to her classroom, which was only a 10 minute drive. When we got there, her brother and her niece were there to welcome us and help us throughout the entire class!! They served us each a butterfly pea drink to start the class, then proceeded to explain each ingredient to us, and how to prepare everything. The steps were all very clear and simple. Karn’s brother then demonstrated how to cook each dish, and we followed suit. Everything was so easy to cook! We made tom yum soup, green curry with chicken, pad thai, and mango sticky rice! We got to taste and eat everything that we cooked, and we were able to pack all the leftovers as well!
Karn also provided us with paper copies of all the recipes, so that we can make them again when we return home! The entire class lasted about 4 hours, and we got dropped off back at our hotel afterwards.
Karn, her brother, and her niece were all very friendly and welcoming! We fully enjoyed the class, and would highly recommend this to everyone!!

We visited a local Thai market near our resort. We picked out the fresh ingredients for the dishes. Chef Sun kept saying his English wasn't that good but it was more than exceptional. The cooking school owned by him and his sister is small but very well suited for classes. I did the class on Thursday and would like to go back on Saturday. The food was delicious and there's plenty of it. They provide take away containers for some dishes and bags for others which is very Thai. If you're on the fence about taking this class, get off and just do it! It's well worth your time and money.

All the activity was really well organized. Loved the hospitality and exceptional food. The hosts picked us up from the hotel, we went to a small market and we learned about the local ingredients and spices.
After that we arrived to a friendly, very clean and cozy kitchen where we cooked together some exceptional local foods 😊
I warmheartedly recommend the experience it’s a very well spent time with 3 exceptional hosts 😊 Loved it, thank you.

The hosts were so hospitable, the cooking class felt more like a family dinner. The lead instructor Kan (short for Kanchana) prepares her dishes with the full variety of exotic Thai vegetables and ingredients while giving tips on how to replace ingredients which may not be easily available outside Thailand. Her brother San (short for Hassan) brings the humor to the operation, he too is an adept cook and takes the lead for some of the classes. The experience is fully customizable to your preference, we for instance wanted the food to be halal and we got it done. Kan was very accommodating of me even though I was at my pickiest. The market experience was authentic. But the best part of the experience was when we all dug in to what we had cooked and it felt like a typical Asian family dinner around the table. They event invited us over for
eid which was very kind. Overall a fine experience.

Myself and partner attended an afternoon session. As it is low season we had a private pick up from hotel, walk around the market and private class. Karn taught us a lot about the ingredients to use and how to prepare. It was very hygienic. We got a lot done in the session - tom yum kung, pad thai, green curry and sticky rice with mango. I look forward to cooking the traditional way - not from a jar - for my family. Thank you.

When it comes to kitchen matters, my laziness is matched only by my sheer ineptitude. For entertaining house guests, I provide only the most exclusive dishes--dishes that are exclusively delivered, that is. I frequently joke that I would burn a green salad, which is only a slight exaggeration because I probably would botch a bowl of Cheerios. Do you think I'm joshing you? Because I'm the guy who stirred a pot of water for three minutes before I realized the stove wasn't even on.
In short: for the sake of public safety, I should be kept out of a kitchen.
Enter Karn of Phuket Easy Thai Cooking, whose cooking class was the highlight of my two-week trip to Thailand in late 2018. Her motto of "easy, not lazy" had a profound life-changing effect on me.
The day started with a shuttle pickup from my hotel. My partner and I were brought to a Thai street market, where we met Karn. She guided us between multiple produce stands, identifying the different fruits and vegetables for us and teaching us how to select the ripest items for our dishes. From there, Karn drove us back to her exquisite teaching kitchen, where we picked from the outside garden a handful of fresh flowers that her assistant made into tea for us. After that, we began preparing our four dishes: green curry, tom yum soup, pad thai, and coconut milk bananas.
Karn is patient. Despite my total impotence in food preparation, Karn skillfully guided me through each step, providing me with individualized attention when needed--and she kept it fun the entire time. Her masterful command of English exceeds that of her peers, and her sense of humor left me in figurative stitches. However, in a service industry, it is not enough for a person to simply be an effective communicator; she must also have something worth communicating. Karn is more than just an excellent teacher; she is also a gifted chef with a deep background in the culinary arts. Her expertise in Thai cuisine shows in her deceptively simple recipes, in which her first ingredient is always love--and her technique is always perfection.
When it came time to feast on our creations, I continually found myself in shock. With nearly every spoonful, I turned, wide-eyed, to my partner and repeated, "I can't believe I made this." In my 32 years on this planet, I have eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants--and yet, the dishes that Karn had taught me to prepare bested all of them. My own food tasted better than any I have had prepared by a professional chef in a commercial kitchen. Even now, I am in disbelief that my own hands could have created something so perfect.
Karn gave me more than just one amazing day of laughs and priceless memories; she taught me a lesson that I will carry with me for the rest of my life:
I CAN DO THIS.
And if I can do it, then you definitely can. So sign up for her class, because it will change your life, too.
