Chiang Rai tour with Charlie ❤️
We booked a 2 days tour in Chaing Rai directly contacting Charlie via whatsapp. He was extremely clear, kind and available for every necessity. We did trekking enjoying his friends of the villages. Charlie is professional and funny. Also his collegue Mr. J was happy to explan us all the details of the locals life and more. Awsome places and view of rice terraces, delicious local food and contagious smiles. Never slept in a bamboo house, I would strongly suggest!!!

    Small night market
Chiang Rai night market is quite small - just a couple of streets. It is nowhere near as large and impressive as night markets in other cities (e.g. Chiang Mai). Chiang Rai is really a base for visiting attractions in the area rather than being a city to visit itself.

    Good place for dinner
Nice night market. Yes it is touristy but the food is good and there is a mix of tourists and locals. There was live music and Thai dancers the night we were there. The vendors were friendly and helpful - not pushy. Reasonable prices.

Worth going just for the food
The actual night market is so-so but there is a big open-air area with yellow tables and yellow chairs with food stalls around the edge at such cheap prices. It’s packed every evening. A great place to meet friends and enjoy all sorts of food and drink and live music.

    Chiang Rai Night Market/Bazaar
A vibrant market with a vast range of food offerings that start at 60bht up to 300 plus for hotpot dishes. Plenty of stalls selling a mix of clothes and souvenirs. A fun place to eat and shop in the evening.

Worth Visiting For Stalls & Vegetarian Food Options
This place feels like both a touristy and local market. There’s a mix of stalls, shops, but the main attraction seems to be the food court. Most of the stalls sell clothes, although there are some selling souvenirs obviously aimed at tourists. It's not just foreign tourists though, there’s also a lot of Thai tourists. The food court is very popular with both foreigners and Thais. The seating is in the centre with food stalls arranged along either side. There’s also toilets and a stage at the eastern end of the food court. From I think about 7 onwards, there’s often performers on stage. Vegetarians can get a decent meal here too. A word of warning though. I would avoid during the rainy season as there's no cover and the thunderstorms are intense.

Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is open air foodcourt with the stage for petformance of traditional dancer. We can enjoy a good food and at the same time enjoy love music and traditional dancing. We can choose lots of variety of Thai Food at reasonable price.

This was a small night market (especially compared to the Chiang Mai Night Market). There were 2 short rows of food stalls, mainly selling fried seafood and vegetables, grilled or steamed seafood, as well as seafood and meat hotpot at very affordable prices. However, the night market was quite chaotic and dirty, with dirty dishes and hotpot stoves on the ground.

Maybe it ia the time of year or the affects of covid have brought some realism or we aimply walked in one enteance and never walked all the way round because there wasnt much on offer.
The nusical stage pumped out various western acoustic covers whilst we walked round the square. We could see some more stalls in the distance but most had their grey shutters down with "for rent" signs. With the rain pouring down there was little appeal to venture onward in the hope of finding more stalls than the dozen or ao we found. On the plus side we did find a shop that sold some neat hand mase key ringkey holders.

I don't really do any souvenir shopping in Thailand, though there are plenty of things for tourists at the bazaar. For me, the best thing there was the food court. Such a variety of food and drinks there!

I enjoyed having some local northern food with a fruit smoothie, and paid 80 baht for all of that.

We visited and enjoyed ourselves but remember this is principally aim at the tourist.

Plenty of Thai silk scarves, baggy trousers etc and a very popular communal 'food court' situated in the centre. There's also two more 'regular' restaurants offering entertainment, the first of which was recommended by our guide but that we chose not to try as it was too western orientated for our taste.

I'd say that you should visit but you'll only need 30 /60 mins unless you're an obsessive shopper!

Note that the more authentic fruit market is situated only two minutes walk away and that's worth a visit too.

We walked to the night market in Chiang rai from our Baanmalai hotel. It is near the Chiang Rai Bus station. There were all sort of merchandise being sold and includes fabrics, housewares, clothes, souvenirs, food and drinks. You can relax here while sipping a beer or two. There was a stage, on which local artist were performing some number. We spent 2 hours here.

Right now the Chiang Rai Night Market runs about half of the capacity, in other words a lot of empty stalls. A stunning reminder of what Covid has caused this beautiful city and country. Nevertheless the prices here are more competitive vs Chiang Mai but the supply isn’t as diverse as the Chiang Mai night markets.

Large market with tons of different food options available. The hot pot is very popular with locals and tourists, and we also really enjoyed some of the smaller more local stalls. You can also get beers at the bar, and there is stage performances on most nights. Highly recommend.

Live Music and large open courtyard style seating arrangement for food adds to the charm. Don't expect anything fancy. This is a small town. The night market is just about it with limited items.
