About Tanganyika Ancient Routes
Tanganyika Ancient Routes offers a variety of experiences from traveling, to learning and serving. The Company owned and managed by Mr. Charles Mpanda, a native Tanzanian. As a young boy born and raised in the Ngorongoro Conservation area, I had the privilege of learning about my heritage with my grandfather. He has spent over 20 years catering to clients in every corner of Tanzania and beyond.

Serengetti Feb 2020 I was watching a Wildebeest give birth to her calf through my binoculars when a Tanganyika Ancient Routes safari vehicle drove right up to the mother. At this point the Mom was spooked and left her calf. The calf stood up, fell down, stood up and fell down... Finally she made it to her feet when another safari vehicle from the SAME company drive up to the baby. As the vehicle pulled away, the calf ran alongside imprinting (?) to the vehicle. Guides from another company tried to get the Tanganyika Ancient Routes drivers to distance their vehicle but to no avail. The baby was not reunited with her mother and presumably died. This definitely cast a shadow on my day. I do not recommend traveling with a company that has such disregard for wild creatures.

On Feb 20,2020 while traveling with another safari company we witnessed aTanganyika Ancient Routes vehicle approach a wildebeest giving birth (probably so passenger could take picture) Our guides were yelling Tanganyika Ancient Routes was driving much too close to animals. The newborn's mother was startled and ran away leaving her newborn alone. Minutes later the baby followed the vehicle as if it were the mother. This was a most distressing event to witness and very unethical.. This baby will not survive we learned and the cause is clearly the fault of the Tanganyika Ancient Routes guide who chose to ignore ethical guidelines for wildlife viewing. Shameful.

Near Lake Ndutu on February 12th, a Tanganyika Ancient Routes vehicle (Plate T-310-"DMZ) drove up just a few feet away from a wildebeest (gnu) mother giving birth causing her to run away as soon as her calf was born. Many guides and tourists watched in horror as the calf, now without it's mother, got up on it's feet, looked around for someone to take care of it, and started running after another TAR vehicle that drove by. This was a death-sentence for the calf. All the guides who saw this incident were incensed. Even before the mother abandoned the calf they knew the TAR vehicle was too close. This company might as well have shot the calf instead of letting it die - as it surely would - of starvation. .

Hi Tracy J, First of all you are not right on your comment. We as the company we were no any car with that registration number and on top of that on the particular dates we were no any client whom was touring in Ndutu area. So we argue you to provide the evidence of the picture of the car otherwise we as the Company we are looking forward to a legal consultant whom will advice us the measures we can take for this defamations. We are giving you 14 days to provide the evidence otherwise we are going to take it into legal matters Thank you Charles Mpanda CEO/Founder Tanganyika Ancient Routes Ltd

Our experience was just great! The team of Tanganyika Ancient Routes was responsive and very helpful from day one while still organizing the trip. Once in Tanzania, they made everything go smoothly. Our first contact, Charles was always ready to provide up to date information and flexible with all our requests. Our guide Joshua was equally awesome, patient, and knowledgeable and made our safari be a real life-time experience.
