The Shiman Shiuku (Stone Gate Dam) is one place in North Taiwan that a local friend with a car may take you to. If there has been little rain recenrly, it may be a trifle deficient in water. For the sake of internatonal relations, try and show some enthusiam. Don't say "it's not like the Hoover Dam." Let's face it,... More

I have been here with my wife during the evening time. It's a nice place, good views. There is boating in this lake and it was good during rainy day...

My wife and I went to visit the lake and walk around. It was very nice, much more than expected. We also took a drink on the top of the mountain with a wonderful view. Only issue, it is really not possible to go by public transportation, but if you have a car it is fine.

It's a huge reservoirs. It has kind of three different levels where you can get down and check out the views... A very good picnic spot for half day or 1 day depending on your mood... One can go and relax. Not far away from either Hsinchu or Taoyuan... Worth visiting!

The reservoir is our favourite place for weekends, cause it's only 30 min drive, and the traffic is never too busy. Nan-yuan park right by the reservoir is spacious and scenic, good for cycling, walking and picnics. Most tourists go to the other side of the reservoir, which makes it perfect for us locals to have picnics in the park,... More

This is the first place we went birding in Taiwan. It was early morning and there were lots of people out walking, cycling, jogging and sweeping. We had a very pleasant walk up the road and round the village and saw some great birds but dipped on our target, the Taiwan blue magpie :(

It was drizzling when I arrived. However, there's still a lot of elderly fans strolling with raincoats or umbrella. It must be so nice that they did not want to skip it.
