Excellent view from the lighthouse atop the hill - worth the climb! There are several shops at the pier where you can rent pedal- or electrical-powered cycles, which are a good way to see the island.

Black sand with industrial like scenery. Lots of small stores selling Taiwanese snacks and seafood. Not hygiene as flies are every where. As you walk further there is a building that sells dried seafood. Tourist trap do not worth the time and effort to come here.

Take ferry ride about 10min from Gushan Ferry Pier to reach Cijin island. I really enjoyed walking through its small roads and main street leading to the beach which were full of opportunity to sample local food from street vendors. There are few seafood restaurants at reasonable pricing and good taste.

Hired an electric 4-wheel bike, great way to see the esplanade. Some lovely sights, weather lovely with the sea breeze. Food venders on the way, some good photo spots. And as usual in Taiwan, very friendly and open locals.

A group of 18-year-olds came to Kaohsiung and felt kind of boring in comparison with Taipei. But no, we discovered this island. In a blink of an eye, the ferry carried us away to a heaven on earth, seriously. Part of it is because it has not been crowded, yet. The sky seems like infinite, holding a part of our... More

You can get to cijin island via ferry using your public transit card, tickets are 40NT. Bicycle/scooters are available for rent and could be brought onto the ferry or rented on the island itself cheaply. Island is easy enough to cycle around and there is a variety of food and drinks. Recommended to spend half a day.

Cijin Island Kaohsiung is a small island just a 5 minute ferry (Cijin Ferry, NT40) journey from Kaohsiung Harbour (it is also reachable by car from a bridge further down). It’s a very exciting place to visit with lots to do and see. Cijin Island is reputed to be the best place to eat fresh seafood in Kaohsiung. We rented... More

Good to spend half a day if your holiday is focus to cover kaohsiung only. The island has nothing much to wow you but enough stuff to maintain your attention for half a day. Chill and relax as u explore the area in a bike
