It is a fair walk from the nearest bus stop to the museum. Even though I went in late October and on a cloudy day, the vastly concreted entrance without much shade still reflected a lot of heat. The exterior of the building looked a bit bland. Lawns were not very well kept. Staff at information desk were very helpful.... More

The museum is a bit off the beaten path and you need a taxi to get there, but the quality of the exhibits makes it worth while. The permanent exhibition of artworks by Kaohsiung locals truly showcases the underappreciated and under-publicised creative talent of the Taiwanese.

As someone who's not at all an art snob but is nevertheless accustomed to enjoying masterfully curated art museums, where the space is as carefully crafted as the choice of content within it (thinking NYC's Whitney, London's Tate, Boston's ICA), the best I can describe this museum is...cute. They made a good effort, at least. Asia in general lags far... More

The museum is situated at a beautiful park where one can spend an hour walking around to appreciate its tranquillity. Entrance is free and the exhibitions during my visit (early June 2016) are interesting and appealing to the senses. After your visit, you can walk to the nearby eateries and enjoy a good meal or have a nice cup of... More

Fantastic modern art museum set in a large park. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to take in everything on this occasion but it's certainly worth a second and third visit. Highly recommended. Bonus is that admission is free.

The Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts had various interesting works of art and displays and a vast area to walk around and explore. There were paintings and also some less conventional displays of art. It really left an impression. The museum grounds are also quite interesting with some fun sculptures and funny caution signs scattered throughout.

There were some interesting and impressive pieces on display, but it probably wasn't as engaging as we had hoped for. We were seeking something a bit more historical, but most of the pieces were modern. A lot of the rooms were empty at the time, possibly in preparation for an upcoming exhibition, so perhaps our timing just wasn't the best.

The exhibitions are regularly renewed so visitors should check the museum's web site to know what is available. In March there was a display of art by two indigenous Taiwanese whose tribal homes are on the east coast of the island facing the Pacific Ocean. This was an eye-opening experience since the focus of modern life in Taiwan seems to... More

Interesting collection in the museum. Good place to go on a either very hot or wet day to get out of the elements. Suitable for all ages and wheelchairs.

When we went, there was an arts event and it was very bustling. Rather interesting place and worth an experience!
