It is quite an experience visiting the unusual arid land formation. It has a lake surrounded by mostly barren hills. On a cloudy day, there are good reflections of the hills in the lake. There is a level walk around the lake. At a short...More

This place is a natural formation of earth 'desert' like the surface of the moon; so it is named: Moon World. Unique scenic, good for photography.

This place has interesting rock formation and is worth 1 to 2 hours of your time (longer if you do the longer walking trail). There is adequate parking and toilet facilities. There is a fair amount of stairs to climb but if a 6 year...More

The distance from tainan city to moon-world is shorter than expected. The roads smooth ,not hilly. The best view of moon-world I found was at "308 Highland". From the highland you could see the whole landscape, layers from layers its like an endless rustic world.

One would need to charter a cab for a round trip from Tainan. (Alternatively, you can get there from Kaohsiung). It took us about 4 hours (travelling time + climbing to the peak of the landscape) from Tainan. The landscape needs to be seen, to...More

We were here at the end of December and both trails to scenic areas were closed due to typhoon damage from September. Too bad, because it started getting good! There are a few restaurants in the area selling specialty 'mountain chicken' that is worth a...More

Tianliao Moon World's distinctive mudstone is ocean-floor sediment that was raised by tectonic uplift. Following years of erosion by the area's waterways, such as the Erren River, the mudstone landscape took on its current appearance. Moon World is a result of the mudstone features being...More
