We took a high end trip to Sri Lanka & Maldives. However this attraction was not on our itinerary. I happened to see it in tripadvisor. It was one of the best, most enjoyable nature experience I have had. We saw so much wildlife. The weather was perfect. It was romantic. I can't say enough about my thrilling time.

A boat was reserved for me from the hotel I was staying in. I didn't know what to expect but I was looking forward to this "interesting canal" I heard from my tour company. I did see some interesting birds and several lizards along the way. The plants and foliages along the canal were pretty and refreshing. The bamboo trees... More

Was able to view the canal several times as I took a tuk-tuk tour of part of Negombo. Interesting to hear how they use the boats in their daily lives

So nice canal but soooo dirty due to the fishing boats and fishermen that are throwing everything in the canal. If they manage to keep it clean it will be so nice to visit

Beautiful scenery, shame about the rubbish in the water and along the sides of the canal. Depending on the time of day, there are many birds to see: kingfishers, egrets, brahminy kites and also water monitors and chameleons and more

Linking the lagoon and the ocean, Dutch canal used to transfer spices by Dutch people. Now is used by local fisherman getting to the sea. It is quiet and peaceful though it might not smell good.

I have visited Negombo several times and was disappointed to find that they have not resolved the problem they have with regard to plastic rubbish littered everywhere along the canal. It took us an additional hour to complete our trip and every 100 metres or so the outboard motor on our boat had to stop to unclog the propeller

The canal is badly polluted in some parts and made for a very disheartening view. The area were the boats are berthed was the most polluted. The government should really adopt measures to clean up the area and prevent

Our children were so happy and had a lot of fun. The person who was in the Boat had good knowledge about every place we're passing through. Thing to try
