General Kim is a pivotal figure in Korean history, being instrumental in leading the Silla army to unite Korea. Consequently his tomb is a little more ornate than some of the others in Gyeongju. However, it is a bit further out from the centre of town, taking some time to get there if you don't have your own car. The... More

We woke early on a Sunday and hiked up here to see the tomb. The walk was great and being early meant we didn't pay a fee. The unique bit is the fencing and the Zodiac tablets around the tomb. This general was a important leader within the Silla Empire so it was nice to pay homage at the tomb.

A very well done exhibit of the tomb as it was excavated. The stones covering the crypt are in place as is the clay covering the stones.

the tomb itself is a quick peek at history. So quick that most of the magic is lost. But access to it is easy, so it's worth seeing.

Whilst the history of general Kim Yushin is very interesting given his influence during the Silla era, his tomb is yet another of those grass mounds that make up the park complex. You cannot go in but you will recognise its importance by the stone fence that surrounds it

Excellent view of how the tombs were constructed and what they found when they did the excavation. Since there are many tombs, this is the only one you can go inside to satisfy your curiosity.

I have to confess my ignorance about General Kim Yushin until I reached the city. He was very important in Korean History in that he led the Korean unification in the 7th century, and then kicked out Chinese allies. For his contribution, his tomb was as impressive as those of kings. A tour guide from Seoul asked me to take... More
