I visited Geumneung Beach in jeju Island in januart of this year, which is a hidden place on the island.
the beach is far away from the crowds and offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. so it is perfect for those who want to escape from city life. the water is clear, and the sand is soft and powdery. what impressed me the most was the beautiful sunset which paints the sky with orange and pink. it makes me a perfect end of the day.
overall, i really recommend visiting Geumneung Beach those who are looking for a relaxing vacation spot in Jeju Island.

Geumneung Beach and Hyeopjae Beach are the two beaches of Hallim located about a kilometer apart from one another. While swimming is not allowed for some stretches, both areas are absolutely stunning during sunset. The stretches of the camping area looked like a great place to spend the daylight hours and at low tide, there was plenty of space for kids to run around and play.

We drove by after a visit to Hallim Park and couldn't resist this beautiful place.
Totally unprepared for the beach, we went for a short walk around the area. The water was cool & clear. There were many tide pools for the kids to explore and catch crabs, little fishes & shrimp. The weather was perfect.
The kids wished that they could stay there all day but we had to leave for another place.
We would go back there again when we visit Jeju the next time.

This beach was a short stopover point for us. We were on the way to another place.
It was mid afternoon & the sun was very very hot, probably that's why there were so few people then. My guess is that those who are here came for the same reason
The roaring sounds of the waves & the deep blue sea always gives one a nice relaxed feeling. In countries like Korea, there are lots of similar beaches & seas.
So although it is nice, there is no need to make a special trip unless you are on the way to another place & passes through here for a short stop. Or for toilet breaks.

Geumnung was one of my favorite beaches up until my most recent experience. The view of the water with the mountain in the backdrop is absolutely stunning! However, upon closer inspection, this experience was tainted by two things—trash and dead fish.
While there were people collecting trash by the parking lot of the beach, unfortunately there was some trash in the clear waters—lots of plastic floating or rope. When we walked further along the shore, we saw a couple of dead fish on the sand. We kept walking and saw even more dead fish and we smelled them! It was really all so disgusting. My partner almost stepped on one of the fish.
I visited Geumneung a couple of years ago in February and it was amazing! It started to snow but then the skies cleared up. It was just such a unique experience for me. I loved the view and that’s why I decided to go back this time. But the memories of the fish washed up on the shore, has left a bitter aftertaste and I don’t know if I want to visit again in the future. Also, it would be nicer if the clean up staff would remove the trash that is floating around.
If you happen to be in the area, stop by for a few photos but don’t look too closely or walk too much along the shore because you just must turn this visit into an unpleasant one.

This is unlike most Korean beaches because most Koreans go to the beach right up the road. Lots of space to play and relax in the sand and in the water. Beautiful sunset. Emerald water. And white sand. Shallow water is great for kids. No parasols (umbrellas), and no commercial building stores - nice! Doesn't feel like a Korea beach at all.
Tip: Park on the right near the camping area. That's where you will find a nice quiet sandy spot next to natural sand dunes. Wow!

This one is located near Hyeopjae Beach, so you can see the Biyangdo island as well. i liked it. Its pretty spacious and got necessary facilities like combini nearby, toilet and place with free water. it also got nice view and some of typical jeju sculptures of female divers and spirits that protect the Island. Sand is white and feels nice.

We just came back from a trip to Jeju (June 2024), and of the beaches we visited, Geumneung was our favorite. (Woljeongri beach would be #2.) Geumneung beach happened to be right near the AirBnb we were staying at, but we also visited Hyeopjae, Jungmun, Gwakji and Woljeongri. Geumneung is super relaxing and has warm, shallow water for a seemingly endless distance. I guess for tall people and people that want a lot of waves, this beach might be boring. But for people and kids who just want to wade into warm, waist deep water for a long time and just goof around in the sea, this is THE beach. The water is very clear and calm (no waves), and it gets less pebbly/rocky after you go into the water about 10-20 yards -- it's a very sandy bottom water area if you enter from the right spot (which is visible from the beach). I highly recommend this beach for any families that want to have a nice summer beach experience on Jeju.

Lovely calm beach just a short walk from the more popular Hyeopjae beach. Had nice Italian lunch at Paratodos cafe. Delicious pasta & risotto.

We were heading to Halim Park and chance upon this on the way. Not many people as it was winter and really cold to be at the beach but the view is just so soothing. Blue greenish ocean waters, waves splashing against the rocks, white sandy beach, etc...just picture perfect. The wind was blowing hard on our faces. There is a stine statue there at the parking lot.
Definitely want to go back again.
