Gamcheon Culture Village. Baldal Mountain is a busy route connecting Gamcheon-dong and Emei-dong between Cheonma-san Mountain and Emei Mountain. In 1918, Cho Cheol-jae founded Taegukdo in 1918. Then more than 4,000 Taegukdo followers gathered around Bangdalsan Mountain to form a village. The current Gamcheon 2-dong was officially established in 1958 around this religious village.

During the Korean War, the safest place was Busan, where the population of Busan increased to two million due to the influx of refugees to avoid the war in the north.

The slopes around Gamcheon-dong have important cultural values. The hill behind Gamcheon is more like a natural wall. In Gamcheon-dong, the front house does not block the front of the house behind it, making it a place to remember the past for modern urbanites. Gamcheon-dong preserves the beauty of the residents living close together and taking care of each other.

It was more beautiful in person than in TV. The colors are so beautiful. The stalls there offer very delicious food and cheaper souvenirs and products. I love the history of the place. Good thing when I visited the area, it is not too crowded, plus we were given an hour and a half by our guide to tour around!

After getting off the subway, one gets on a local minibus which takes a VERY winding road up to the village proper. Scary bends with this mighty little bus with its full load of passengers chugging round hairpin bends valiantly (kinda scary!!).

The Village proper is interestingly constructed and full of lovely spaces to explore. Not so many locally based artisans but those that were open on a winter’s morning were definitely interesting.

Needless to say, everyone makes a beeline for a photo op with The Little Prince.

A delightful enclave, which I hope remains respectfully maintained.

Gamcheon Culture Village was the first place I visited in Busan and I loved it so much!! It has beautiful murals and colourful shops, and of course, all BTS fans will find the famous Jimin and Jungkook wall here. The vibes are amazing and it just makes you so happy being here. Also, don't forget to take the map at the entrance and then you can stamp the places (it is like a treasure hunt) and when you submit it back, you receive cute goodies!! I highly recommend visiting this place if you are in Busan!

Must see for sure.
Pick up a map (2000₩) and collect the stamps, and after you can receive a price. It’s nice). Great place you can enjoy in Busan. You can spend here 2-4 hours with slowly walking and coffees time in one of the cafe with the great views.

The colorful houses along the hillside neighborhood of Gamcheon are breathtaking! Such a wonderful view when the sun shines on the houses. I recommended you stay here for at least 2.5 hours because the village is quite big and every corner is well design and Gacheon Village is definitely a must when you visit Busan❣️

This UNESCO World Heritage site is for sure very charming with its artsy murals, cute cafes and funky shops. Make sure to carve out time to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee at one of the cafes that overlook the village since some provide stunning window views! Since this is still a residential area it is important to be mindful of the surroundings.

Actually i prefer Danang city than this town, but really love thier idea to retouch the fishing town to become travel destination.

Better than expected. Nice view on the top. Still residents are living there. Little bit challenging to find the way and lots of up and downs.
