This museum is a great one for visitors to Albany! The 9/1, Native American, regional wildlife, and revolving artistic exhibits are all very interesting and engaging. The views from each level are beautiful, as are the carousal and the examples of planes and automobiles on the fourth floor. You can see the NY Public Library Archives on site and even... More

The New York State Museum is definitely worth a visit and a revisit. The museum staff have done excellent work showcasing the history of New York State from the time before the dinosaurs to Sesame Street. The 9/11 memorial is impressive.

The NYS Museum gives a well-balanced look at the history of NYS, both natural and man-made. The curators are obviously very dedicated to their work, and it shows in the displays.

The museum is well laid out and easy to see all exhibits. It covers the history of the State and the flora and fauna, and animals. It is a great museum for children and includes 911 artifacts.

Went here as a kid countless times. Comforting to see the sane exhibits mostly. The major reason to go now is the 9/11 exhibit. It gives you an amazing view point on what happened, and the video of Billy Green will make you emotional. It also highlights how incredible people/animals can be when working together.

Probably the best state museum I have ever visited was not in a state at all; it is the British Columbia Provincial Museum. But the New York State Museum runs a close second. Excellent for all of the family.

My family has gone many times with school field trips and just winter outings. It is a large and very informative place. Love our NY history everything from our hometown mastodon to the newest addition of the 9/11 attacks display!
