Tiberias is a great little town for tourism. We feel at home here. The people are friendly and helpful. We recommend staying here when traveling in the north of Israel.

Let me try to set the visual stage for what one sees upon arrival... if you are from the US imagine one of the older, aging family style resort towns that were built and boomed in the Roaring 50's and into the '60s- and that...More

Not much to say about Tiberias except that it is the big city on the Sea of Galilee. It's a nice spot from which to take day trips into the mountains. Religious sites, ruins and other things of interest abound in the region.

Tiberias is kind of a run down town but there is so much history in the area that we stayed here while in Israel while we were on a side trip up north. Decent tourist shopping and lots of good food.

Tiberias used to be a gem on the banks of the sea of galilee. Now it is a poor, dirty, orthodox, hot as hell place, the lake's level is historically low, and there is simply no reason whatsoever to stop there. If you insist on...More

The harbor area is quite dirty and very quiet during daytime - nothing much to see. There are several cafes at the waterfront with ice cream and coffee... Parking by the big hotels is possible.

If you are looking for rest calmness and unique experiences then I don't think that's the place. The area turned to be very touristic with no authentic culturally related activities maintained.

We stayed in Tiberias and took day trips. We stayed in the lovely Europa 1917 hotel. It was convenient and easy to navigate the town. We didn't spent a lot of time in the town instead opting for day trips to Safed and the Golan...More

We stayed at the Leonardo Plaza. There is no self serve laundry but the hotel has laundry service available. They did a great job and the price was reasonable. You deliver your bag of clothes to the front desk in the morning... More

I have a very reliable resource with a great description of its proximity! If you can walk a mile in ten minutes, then the Horns of Hattin are less than a hour from Tiberias if you were to hike there. I am guess five miles... More
