This church was built on top of Mary's home in Nazareth where the angel, Gabriel, visited her. It is a holy and wonderful place, regardless of your belief that Mary was or wasn't living right there. Open for private prayer evenings.

I really loved the world-wide submissions around the internal wall of the compound and the others inside the church. The stained glass windows are lovely, and I love how they have built around the old grotto.

I've seen several modern cathedrals in Europe, but not one was as architecturally, aesthetically exciting as this church. Take your time to considerate the myriad details that fascinate the imagination and the spirit. DO NOT MISS this church while in Nazareth.

A moving experience and a beautiful church. We spent a couple of hours enjoying the organ music and the quiet peace of the sanctuary.

Traditionally the site of the Anunciation of the Virgin Mary, this is a truly magnificent holy site. The Church is built over reputedly the remains of the home of Mary and Joseph. The Church is on two levels..a quiet, fairly austere lower Church where the focus is the holy house; and the magnificent upper Church, decorated with huge images of... More

Magnificent looking church. Upper level is used for most services. Lower level contains the Grotto and the remains of the original churches. There are mosaics of the Madonna that adorn the walls of the courtyard and church. Place is busy with tourists. Down the street by the traffic circle are places to eat. Almahdi Sweets had exceptionally tasty baklava.

This place has lots of things to see. Be sure to go upstairs as well. Lovely art on the walls . Old ruins as well. We spend quite a lot time here. Does offer a quiet time evening. Lots of visitors so go early If you don't like crowds.

This church is truly amazing. It has two levels and it protects the remains of prior structures. The lower level includes the grotto of annunciation. It is believed that the remains of the original Mary's Nazareth home are contained in this church. The church's style is Italian brutalism and somehow it seems perfect here. The 5th century church and the... More
