About
The Ilana Goor Museum, distinct in its dual purpose as both the gallery and private home of the artist, is a uniquely hidden gem in the old city of Jaffa. Housed in a historically rooted eighteenth-century structure, the museum allows visitors to see and feel the eclectic collection of famous Israeli sculptor Ilana Goor with Old Jaffa as a background storyline and setting. Within the walls of the beautifully-renovated structure lay over 500 artworks, both by Goor herself and by guest Israeli and international artists included in the museum collection. For the first time in Israel, you have the opportunity to admire works of art from the point of view of the artist/collector rather than as exhibits in a sterile academic environment. Despite the Museum's eclectic nature, each room features creations from different places and times. Each work of art has a different background and a story all its own. The Museum's uniqueness lies in the unexpected contexts generated by each artist, both on the human and on the visual level.

- Tamar A1 contributionmust see for art lovers, best rooftop of Jaffaabsolutely amazing!!! a real must see for art and history lovers visited the museum after a recommendation from a family member and WOW! the museum's and Mrs Goor's collection is so vast including anything from ethnic African art, relics from Egypt and the middle east, painting, sculptures, installations, as well as modern art by international and Israeli artists. There is great attention to the display of the art - thematically and respectfully. Real inclusivity and exposure of all cultures, religions and genders of artworks and artists - a very refreshing and forward-looking art museum experience. Best rooftop in Jaffa with an incredible panorama to the sea and very kind and passionate staff.Visited January 2023Written 23 January 2023
- MeJerusalem, Israel2 contributionsFascinatingThis is one of the most original art museums I’ve ever experienced - and I have visited quite a few around the world and in Israel. Located in a several hundred year old building in Jaffa, overlooking the sea, the multi-floor museum offers an eclectic collection of primarily modern art. This includes works by artist Ilana Goor, works about her, and works by noted artists primarily from Israel with representation from Europe and elsewhere. Sculptures, installations, photographs, primitive masks, furniture and even a sculpture and plant garden on the roof. Quite remarkable and fascinating. For all lovers of cutting edge, at times whimsical, and interesting art.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 March 2023

This amazing lady is dyslexic and from a young age knew she wanted to be creative so began collecting all sorts of materials to create amazing pieces. The museum not only showcases her work, it also displays her incredible collection of art. Every room is crammed with interesting pieces. Images of the artist and her history make this a very intimate space. If you are in TA, this place is a must see.Visited March 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 15 March 2023
- SilverOrlovTel Aviv, Israel1,819 contributions<<Do you want to know how deep this rabbit hole goes?>>Very unusual and interesting place. Objectively, you can probably give it 4, but emotions and sensations - it's definitely 5. I am quite picky and strict about some types of art(and modern art especially) and really dislike many things that are done objectively badly, but people can shout "wow, this is art!" ...but this place was interesting to me. This house is filled with a little art-chaos and makes you feel a little like Alice from the famous book. My experience in this place was so unusual in my personal feelings. Many of the works were interesting to look at. I definitely did not regret the purchased ticket.Visited March 2023Written 13 April 2023
- revett2016Santa Rosa, California529 contributionsEclectic museumWhat a wonderful gem of a museum. Based in a former summer residence of the artist Ilana Goor, is a collection of her art, memorabilia, her contemporary art collection and rooftop sculpture garden. The views are fabulous, with numerous sitting areas and collections. It’s a home filled to the brim with collections, cats (alive & sculptures), paintings, pottery, furniture and more. Delightful morning spent here. It’s not really handicap friendly but there is an elevator to one level up.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 August 2023

I loved the Ilana Goor museum. The art from the artist herself is great and this building was a highlight for me. Loved it! I hope to return again.

A great journey, compiled of art, history and biography of one of the greatest women on this planet. And a splendid observing view of old Jaffa from the balcony and a rooftop as a bonus

My husband and I love art ...what a nice private collection!...the story of Mrs Goor's family ( living room) is also a way to make the visit more intimist....just the building is a successful renovation.... from the terrace, the view of Jaffa is magic.
