Herod was the builder of many sites in Israel. He was corrupt, vain and a murderer but could get buildings built. He built a miniature Roman city here with a harbor where there had not been one. He added a hippodrome for races and entertainment....More

Caesarea national park has ancient harbor ruins, beaches, and amphitheater. Caesareas status as the country’s Roman capital and also its role in Jewish & Christian history. It’s worth a stop.

We visited the ruins of Caesarea. It had been built by Herod. You can tell it had been a beautiful place. We were on a Christian believers tour so we learned it was also where the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate, based his seat of government....More

one must visit, especially if interested in history. a guided tour helps in understanding the nuances of this ancient city. one is exposed so do carry water and head gear
