A cognitive ecstacy experience is something that you get in your brain when you see something so amazing they freeze you and take you out of this world. this is how amazing the view is.

After descending from the summit, we trekked to this lake. It was not an easy hike for a beginner like me, but i managed. When we reached the lake, honestly i was awed. The waters were clear, and you can see people catching fish for dinner. There is a hotspring nearby, about five to ten mins hike. Your muscles may groan all the way, but trust me,when you reach the hotspring, it will be worth it. There is a lovely waterfall nearby too! Come nightfall, the sky was cloudless, allowing for a perfect starlit sky. Unfortunately for us, it was a full moon, so milky way was hiding. Otherwise, a lovely lake and perfect for camping and definitely a campfire!

As a lot of people opt out of doing it after climbing the summit, it is somewhat more calm compared with the summit trip. Hot spring water is 5min walk away from the lake. Lakebed is not very nice, at it is not often used for swimming.

This was magical. After climbing Mt Rinjani, make sure you get yourself down to the lake where you can enjoy the view of the summit and volcano. You can go fishing or spend some time recovering at the hot springs nearby. There's a little waterfall too if you need a cold shower.

There are 'toilet facilities' available. And if you're there,, please remind yourself, friends and everyone around to clean up and not litter. It's such a shame to see such a beautiful place be ruined.

Danau Segara Anak, a lake that was created by a huge eruption years ago is an absolutely stunning view that one will not miss when hiking Rinjani. The lake itself is 200m deep, with a live volcano that emits smoke located at the center of the lake.
