Our taxi driver took us to this place and it was fun watching the women weave and having a go at it myself. They then dressed us in traditional clothing and took some photos which turned out great. We bought a blanket which we were assured was handwoven. However, a few days later we bought the same style blanket on... More

Sukarara is one of the traditional village in Lombok which famous as Weaving Village. It is located in Central Lombok Regency. It is about 15 minutes from Lombok International Airport. In that village, we are not only seeing the process of weaving but also we can practice how to weave traditionally. And if you like taking picture, you can try... More

I think that Lombok Traditional Outfit is really nice and cute. I am so happy to be able to try it here and take a lot of pictures. The guide here will help you to put on the clothes and take pictures. You only need to pay as much as you want, they don't really charge for the outfit and... More

On our way to this village it had been raining very heavily so we were the only ones there and most of the weavers homes were closed, however we talked to a couple of lovely ladies whilst weaving, told very interesting stories of how women cannot marry unless they can weave as they bring in the bulk of the money,... This village is very popular for its traditional weaving works or "Tenun Tradisional Lombok". Most of the house in this village do weaving producing songket or variety of Tenun Lombok such as Scarf, Table Cover etc.. There is a big shop running by a Cooperative called Patuh. It exhibits the process weaving, and the guide will explain. Very interesting.

My husband and I learned hiw people weave in Sukarara Village. You can buy the Songket, made by local people. Moreover, you can see directly the process, wear the traditional clothes and take photos near the traditional house which is located next to the shop.

In sukarara all the homes weave. You can have a small tour of the village. We went before tourist peak season. So it was worth it. There is one big shop run by their co-op so the money does go back hopefully to the villagers. We did buy a few pieces. Understand pls that these are woven as compared to... More

It was a good place to visit to understand about the local people and their way of life. It is not a built up place for tourists but the actual location of the village, and the people living there still. Very worth the visit.
