Had we known, we would never have gone. Not much to see except a lot of kids who do everything to get a ticket. And when you leave the car park announced at 50,000 goes to 100,000 with guards who will not let you go if you do not give them what they want! Pass your way, the nearby beaches are much better!

The beach is beautiful (as all the other paradise beaches I visited in Sumba) and it was fun to spend time playing with the local kids who live there while my husband was enjoying the deserted beach all by himself. Until this time, I would have rated 5 for the beach.
However, when we were leaving the place, the kids got very angry at us because we didn’t donate them money, candy or cookies (some habit that may have been developed in this region by other tourists). And when we were crossing the gate, our driver was approached by 5 local guys who asked us 100.000 Rupias. We were not advised in the entrance that we would need to pay, so we felt that it was a trap! We tried to negotiate the price, since we considered 100.000 Rupias a lot to visit a beach, but they didn’t accept. We felt threatened by them and just paid the money they were asking for.
With some many amazing beaches in this piece of paradise that are free of charge and beggars, I just ask myself what’s the point of coming to this one...

1. You cannot swim in this beach. The wave is way too high and can easily smash you to the big bumpy rock.
2. There's a nice little spot where the water is quieter and can serve as a good background for your photo taking.
3. The kids are such a letdown. They follow you everywhere and "force" you to buy their stuffs. If you don't buy, they yell at you in local language.
4. Try to find local fishermen to buy fresh seafood. We bought 3 lobsters at only IDR 250.000.

Tried to visit this beach after being warned by my guide that entry was no longer free. Apparently the new owner lives overseas. There is a fellow who "guards" this beach and asks visitors for 50,000 IDR to see it - even if you don't want to swim. I'm told this money collector is not related in any way to the new owner - not sure if its true or not, but either way I didnt stay. Neither did the other tourists who showed up at the same time. A real shame to miss it, but also a real shame to support such behavior.

This beach is one of the most beautifull beaches in Sumba. Water is clean but accses to the beach is really difficult, because there is private land own by some person which doesnt let the people go to the beach without donation. There is no toilet, or place for changing cloths.

we visited the Mandorak beach and also gave kids books, biscuits, balloons, candy and stationary. Please dont give money to them, it will make them lazy. and then they will beg to every tourists in the future.
Nearby the beach there is also beautiful beach with white sand on the back of the hill

A small part of the beach is quite artistic where people like to make selfie between the rocks.
That is also the gab where the fishermen boat enter the ocean and come back from the ocean when lower tide

Beautiful beach, rather small but definitely worth hopping by. The access fee is not really justified but apparently the owner is building a resort here - hopefully without closing the access to the beach.

The beach shouldn’t be private actually by law you can’t have property 200 m from the high tight. They just made there own ‘entrance’. Completely no respect for the locals and nature. Why do you have to pay to see the sea? It’s next to the Kodi ‘tribe’. This locals are very introvert and aggressive. In the end a big let down. Not worth it a at all since the sea is so dangerous there because of the currents and you cannot even dip in! A waste and a shame, Like the “ticket to the moon”...😒

You have to pay a contribution money for entrance. There's a small pretty house by the beach which is very instagram-able. The beach itself was very pretty, not too big, but enough to take pictures around. However I dont think you can swim. Been there twice and the waves were too big for a swim.
The local kids will welcome you with a big smile, adorable at first, but then they followed us everywhere hoping for money / candy! We didn't prepare any and they were unhappy about it. It made us unconfortable.

One of the best spot for Sunset. The sunset is magical here. the sand is white and soft. Feels like a private beach. if you dare enough, you may swim...
