I went there expecting to see a historical place which is kept for visitors to get a sense of what it was in the past. But, unfortunately was greatly disappointed as the place is boring, dirty, not maintained well, and has not much to do....More

Overall it was interesting to see the exterior and interior design of the palace... and also to listen to the history of the place.

Ok place to mill around sucking up the atmosphere and historical feel of the place also took some good pics inside of the locals in their costumes.

This building shows a typical Malay architecture with Sumatran feel. There is a kind of Rumah Gadang's roof. Istana Maimun displays some outfits of the previous Sultan Deli along with other cultural things.

The total time taken to go around is less than 15minutes. The place is used to don costumes of the royalty and take photos. Nothing much here. But at least the place is safe, well maintained.
