Recommend to going this place after office hour 6 to 12 PM there's a lot of food you can found here. The food stall with kind of delicious food and reasonable price.
Located in the heart of China Town with old buildings. Nice.

On Friday night after 5pm this street in Semarang Chinatown comes alive...with a lot of interesting local food. They are all kinds of stalls selling local delights-food and drinks and trinkets. It is also the only place (I think) that pork is allowed in the menu. There is a shop that even has a cute picture of piggies on its banner!
There’s a wide variety of iced-cold drinks-perfect to go with the food on a very hot evening. At this time 6:58pm the temp is 84degF
A vey delicious evening of street food walk

Very interesting place to visit. It’s at a long stretch of a small alley at China Town full with hundreds of street food stalls organized by the city. There’s squid snacks, rice dumplings, dim sum, Korean snacks, Pork in a skewer, and many other kinds of snacks and delicacies. A must visit when in Semarang.

Following similar places in Surabaya called Kya-Kya Semarang created Semawis. It was started as an event which held few days before chinese new year. In semarang's Chinatown, some prominent chinese figures came up with the idea of exposing Chinese culture including Chinese food. So they set up food stalls, selling local food, Chinese ornaments and other things that related to Chinese culture. This was a very successful event. Since then, they try to create similar event not only during the preparation of Chinese New Year but every weekend. So they close the street, make it as a free car night and invite local food sellers to open their food stall in it. So if you have a chance to visit SEMARANG during the weekend (started open from Friday Night) please visit Semawis. You can easily find the best and very well known SEMARANG food in the area. Please bear in mind, if it's rain then the place will be closed.

Open at night only. Lot of choices of traditional and modern foods and drinks. Was too overcrowded at peak hours. The place was too narrow. Need rearrangement of the vendors and guest seating to allow better pedestrian flow. The place may need expansion to another expansion to the surrounding roads. The chicken waffle cone was good, the soto was average, the ice teler durian was tasty fresh, the pisang plenet was too sweety.

I've tried fried banana pancake, the flavor is special. Many street food there looks worthy to try for some Indonesian local dish.

this night market only open at Friday , Saturday and Sunday (at night of course)
at day time this "gang pinggir" street is just ordinary street. but at night from friday till sunday (open from 7.00 approximately till midnight) there will be a lot of food booth , it seem somebody magically change this place into lively night market.
most of the booth are selling food , snack and drink. only one or two booth selling bags and toys.
one sell medicine , also there are one fortune teller booth. oh yeah it is a wrong places to buy souvenir , no souvenir related items at all. not all of this food booth selling chinese food. there are a lot of another local food. so halal food also available like "nasi ayam and sate ayam"
i got here at saturday night , there are 3 karaoke booth , most of the participant are local old people. singing both mandarin and indonesian songs.
i remembered one booth offering massage services , it is no ordinary massage but using somekind of technique in massaging. i saw only old people queued. maybe its for healing some sort of illness.
overall , worth a visit. you must visit this place when you are at semarang city.
