Located in front of Kanoman Palace Cirebon, it is a traditional market where you could find many all over Indonesia. Crowded, muddy streets, narrow alleys are the characteristics of Indonesian traditional market. However, this market has a plus value as it sells cheap Cirebon local food for souvenirs. You could find many types of crackers, snacks, cookies, "petis", syrup, sweets and you would be allowed to bargain the prices. Surprisingly, all local food made in Cirebon that I bought are good. According to me, they are tastier than similar food made in other region of Java. So I was really satisfied to find my favourite food eventhough I had to walk on muddy streets.

This market open till at noon. Many seller from food, raw food, fish till some textile also available. It’s located near Kanoman palace.
We visit and go for this time to looking for some textile. After i can see there’s also open for Cirebon’s snack shop, non halal shop and low budget chinese food.
But since it’s independence day, the shop some is close.

I do love to visit the Kanoman Traditional Market every time I come to Cirebon. It called Pasar Kanoman. The items sold in Pasar kanoman are basically the same, such as fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, spices, dry goods and household items. The vendors sell the good quality items.
Nearby the Pasar, we can find Souvenir Shops which sell alot of things to bring home. Salted fish, shrimp cracker, shrimp paste (terasi udang), assorted traditional cookies, candied fruit etc.
In front of the souvenir shops we can find Tapel seller. It is kind of traditional crepe which made by sticky rice flour, grated coconut, brown sugar and mash banana. Hmmm so yummy...., but we should be patient waiting our order because the seller make the banana crepe one by one.
We also can buy assorted traditional cake, such as lemper, kue talam, bika ambon, bolu kukus, bubur lemu and much more.

great place to learn how to haggle.
most of local delicacies are available here.
this place could swarmed by people and it will get very hot and steamy.
not good in a rainy day. puddles everywhere. very uncomfortable.
but still if you want to know about the local, you should check out this place.

Pasar Kanoman is an interesting traditional market for someone who is a Java newbie. It has a good collection of Cirebon batik, which is colourful and bright. It also has a large bird market. Some people may not like seeing birds in cages, but the range of finches, parrots and talking mynah birds will appeal to others. This is worth a quick look on the way to nearby Kraton Kanoman, a rundown but interesting old palace.
