When you came to Cirebon I think you have to visit this place. Since this is one of the Keraton in Cirebon. Very interesting visiting it. Especially they have "Museum Pusaka". In that musem you can see traditional Cirebon Weapon and some ceramic that given from China.

I walked around here late in the afternoon with no guide as no one spoke English. So I had no idea what this is but it's interesting to take some photos. Also no official ticket was given so dunno if it was legit. I just had to give these guys 12000 at the gate.

The most famous palace (keraton) in Java is in Yogyakarta, and dates to the middle of the eighteenth century, but this gorgeous little palace in the port-city of Cirebon pre-dates it by three centuries and is by far our favorite Indonesian palace. It is not large or particularly grandiose, so many tourists come away disappointed. So don't go there expecting grandiosity; what this palace really has to offer is its great authenticity and antiquity.

The finest section is the 'siti inggil', or resting area, in the front. Characterized by red-brick walls and pavilions, inset with antique porcelain, it is an artistically delightful complex. The wood carving here is some of the oldest and finest in all Java. The whole monument is tragically neglected and many of the walls are on a lean, but they have so far avoided collapse.

The second behind is a little more recent, though it still dates back to the earliest period of Islamization in Java. It is a very small palace. It more resembles a simple villa, but the mixture of Asian and European furniture gives it a subtly refined atmosphere. We highly recommend this place.

Good to visit to see the culture, however, it's very clear that the Palace is short of fund. Gov't need to look into preserving this Cultural spot!

I like the way they give guide. They use high school students to practice being a guide.

What I don't like is whenever we enter a room, they ask us to give extra money "voluntarily" for maintenance of the palace.

After days of doing adventure tours in West Java with Java Private Tour, I finally arrived in Cirebon City to explore the arts, culture and history of the Kasepuhan palace in Cirebon, a historical place which in my opinion is very interesting, I am quite happy to be able to witness directly the ornaments of buildings and historical items that have a blend of Chinese, Indian and Indonesian. However, it is unfortunate because the tour guide service from the management at the Kasepuhan Cirebon palace has limitations in English communication, fortunately when I visited this place I was accompanied by a crew from Java Private Tour so that the crew from Java Private Tour could translate Indonesian and Cirebon regional accent into English, which finally made me understand the storyline about history, art and culture that was conveyed, and I very enjoy this tour.

Is the biggest and oldest palace in Cirebon. With an area of 25 hectares has a unique architecture. This palace integrates elements from various religions and cultures in its building, combines European, Chinese and Javanese culture and combines elements of Hinduism and Buddhism. Which is a symbol of harmony between religions and cultures is maintained. There is a museum in this area that can be visited by tourists. Contains various heirlooms and painting collections from the kingdom. A historical relic of the great Islamic civilization. The most famous in this museum is the "Singa Barong" kencana train, which is the Sunan Gunung Jati vehicle.

This Kraton is cool!! I love the ambiance of.
Full of historical. All the "Abdi Dalem" very friendly. I love the all.
I meet Mr. Sultan Arief there. He treated me a cup tea and cake. He is a nice person, humble, low profile and down to earth.
Thank you pak Sultan for treated.

Cirebon is not the only city with a "keraton" (sultan's palace). Compared with the somptuous keraton of Yogyakarta this palace in Cirebon may look a bit minimal, but on walk with a local guide (speaks unfortunately only Bahasa Indonesia) the tourist can discover many interesting facts.
