Me and my wife went to women Kecak fire dance by coincidence. We enjoyed it very much. We were siting in the front row which was awesone. The show really gives you a feeling that you are in a trance state of mind. Hats off to the women singing the whole time and to the guy walking and sitting on burned coconuts 🔥👍💪

We enjoyed watching this traditional Bali performance of Indian origin with the Indian Ocean and Uluwatu cliff as background. The story and dance is accompanied by 70men singing in trance as background music & storyline. As the storyline unfolds enjoy the magnificent sunset in this most westerly tip of Bali island.

Watch this show at Batubulan which started a bit earlier compare to the one at Uluwatu or Pura Dalem Ubud. Very impressive traditional show on the storyline of Ramayana.
At the last part of the show, a few of the performers were in trance state or hypnotise and were walking over the burning fire. The show last about an hour and it's a great experience to see the cultural performance as well as their intricate costumes.

Its the better than the others Balinese show. And you should go and watch it. If it’s the big show, their dancer more than 100 people and they do their music with their mouth 👄 I love it so much

Ok the fire dance and the Legong Barong dance at the Ubud Palace are totally different, if you have time, sure, check out both, but I prefer the dance at the palace better. First, the location is right next to the street, so you will be hearing cars and mopeds zooming for the entire performance. Second, the show is at 7:30pm which is already dark when we visited in early November. You can't really see the intricate movement of the dancers, but if you're just there to hear the chant and the story telling, sure, give it a go. Lastly and most unfortunately this is the most annoying part - tourists who like constantly take pictures with their flashes on. Imagine you're sitting somewhat in the dark, trying hard to pay attention to the dancers and the men chanting and FLASH FLASH FLASH, the whole time. C'mon, like you're really going to look through the hundreds of pictures you took during that 80+min performance!?!? Stupid. That really tainted the whole experience.

Our hotel recommended this Kecak dance. It was amazing to hear the 100 male voices chanting together and to see the beautiful costumes and masks and men walking on burning coconut husks. The only difficulty was that the performance was overbooked and the organisers made us move to the temple courtyard. Therefore the people who got there early and had a good position ended up being at the back when everyone moved. I had to climb up onto the temple in order to see anything. However it was an amazing cultural experience. Some people had smoke blowing right in their faces at the end, so don't sit too close to the front!

The show is amazing, but not for everyone. People there, instead of silently watching wonderful exotic cultural performance, were drinking beer and talking loudly. What a disrespect. That's the only minus, though. People, please, respect the culture!

My husband and I weren't sure what to expect but thoroughly enjoyed the Kecak and fire dance in Batubulan. It's about a 35 minute drive from Ubud and far less congested and crowded than most other tourist places in Bali. The performance is in an outdoor amphitheater and most of the audience appeared local and/or Asian. There were brochures in a variety of languages that described the story of Ramayana. The vocalizations - there is no instrumental music - were amazing and the dance, traditional Balinese. Costumes were colorful and whimsical. Without knowing the story, one would be lost so brush up before you go. A fire dance followed which was quite shocking. We were close to the stage and it was difficult to understand how the young man could walk through - and sit in - fire and embers. This was done repeatedly. Amazing. It was a fun experience and a nice introduction to this small niche of culture.
