Absolutely fantastic morning spent with Made and his family. First we visited local markets then a coffee plantation which was surprisingly an excellent experience with a whole taster platter of drinks to try. Then a few hours of fun cooking at Mades house with beautiful jungle views. They were kind, friendly people and we loved every minute. We even purchased a mortar and pestle and very big knife off them to take home. Loved it!!!

Great experience, even when it's raining!
Got picked up in the morning for the early class at the hotel and went to the market in Ubud. Having a guide (also the chef) there was really helpful because it can be quite overwhelming.
The next stop was at a small coffee plantation where we learned about Balinese Coffee and had a coffee and tea tasting with all their flavours (all vegan/plant-based soymilk as cow milk is hard to come by in that area+expensive). You also have the chance to try the famous cat poo coffee (luwak coffee) for 50000 rupiah. I definitely would not miss out on that! It is really special!
There is also a small shop where you can buy all the teas and coffees, which are also great souvenirs to bring home!
After that we drove to the home of our chef, which is a very beautiful, traditional Balinese house where he also explained the architecture, which is very special!
And then, finally, the cooking class started!
We cooked many different traditional Balinese dishes and also one dessert, which were all SCRUMPTIOUS!!!
Also, out of 4 people I was the only vegan person so we cooked two versions of each dish. The vegan versions did not lack in taste at all, the chef really knows how to prepare tasty, satisfying plant-based cuisine, I was really blown away!!!

This was an amazing experience. I contacted the cooking class yesterday evening only, and I had the cooking class today morning. We started at the market, visited a plantation/farm and than we started to cook delicious vegetarian food. I got all the recipies printed as well. Hotel pick-up and drop off was part of the package. Highli recommended.

We had a very enjoyable experience learning to cook with Made and his family. He and his wife were very kind and eager to teach all of us how to make some very delicious Balinese foods. He was very encouraging to the kids (ages 12 and 10) and gave them lots of freedom to prepare and cook the foods. Everything tasted amazing and he gave us all the recipes so that we can cook the meal ourselves when we return to Canada. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Bali!

Me and my best friend joined Bali Manggang cooking class on our second day morning in Bali. The hosts are very nice and friendly to us. They are also very patience and details while teaching us. We learned quite a number of dishes from them and all the dishes taste very good. I definitely enjoy this cooking class and looking forward to bring more family members and friends to join next time when I visit Bali.

This cooking class was excellent. Made took us to a local market and showed us a variety of Bali fruits and vegetables. We stopped at a very nice coffee plantation before heading to Made's home for the cooking class. All dishes were delicious, we feel like we can make this at home now. Made told us about all the substitutions we could make on our own and provided us with a recipe book as well. Highly recommended!

We went to the Bali Manggang cooking class and had a really good time, good and frest food. Our teacher was really nice and it was probably the best food we had in bali so far, would definitely recommend it! We liked the banana dumplings the most. You get a list with the recepies after! We decided to do the class really spontaneously, so we were so glad everything worked out. We also were able to cook a completely vegan menu!

We really enjoyed our cooking class with Made.

The day started with a trip to a local market which was really interesting. Before making our way to Mades house which has stunning views over the jungle.

We learnt to make some tasty dishes and benefitted from a small group of us which meant we all got to get involved.

The day ran really smoothly and I would recommend this to others. My friend has done a few other cooking classes before and said this is the best she has done.

Thank you Made.
