Beautiful performance under the moonlight. I once saw a performance like this in Uluwatu. I loved this one better because the audience is not as large and it created a more mystical atmosphere..

We saw Kecak Fire & Trance Dance and Kris and Barong dance at Bali, although I feel the latter could have been skipped! Kecak Fire & Trance Dance was at Uluwatu temple. This traditional dance form is basically theater version of an excerpt from Ramayana comprising of Ram vanvas, Sita Haran and Hanuman igniting the Lanka. What really differentiates the... More

Went to the show just yesterday. The place is the authentic village close to Ubud. Entrance fee is 100000 rupiah. The show is a story taken form Ramayana. At some point it seems like artists were in trance. Very traditional atmosphere. The only thing that we've noticed that some artists acknowledged the guests, that shouldn't be done in a Theatre.... The entry to Uluwatu is 30000 idr and the entry to see the Kecak and fire dance is 100k. They hand over a leaflet to help you understand the play better. You can truly experience the Balinese culture here. They enact a scene from the Ramayan against the pretty evening sky. You will get to witness one of the most... More

Of course we came to Pura Uluwatu to see the Royal Temple which was not the highlight of our day. The Fire Dance Show which only costs $10AUD is such a wonderful way to get a glimpse into the local Bali Culture and tradition. The show goes for approximately an hour and it happens during Sunset which provides an amazing... More

The first "song" caught our attention but the repetitiveness of hearing the chant over and over again for an hour gave me a headache. I understand that this was to be a story of good and evil but I have to agree with a comment I heard another audience member say, "well, that's one hour of my life I will... More

Sure, this show is probably made for tourists, but it's still AWESOME. I had been wanting to see this performance in person, since first seeing footage of it in the movie Baraka. The overall setting was beautiful and the rhythms and music were captivating. Our 8 and 12 year old also loved the show...especially the fire portion of it. Definitely... More

The Kecak is sung by a choir of local Balinese men and I found this a really moving experience. The storyteller can be heard reciting a fragment from the Ramayana which is performed by member of the local communtity (the white monkey was my home stay host). Following this performance is the Trance Dance where a "horse rider" walks on... More

This performance is interesting and beatiful. We knew the story before, so it's easier to recognise the figures. The hypnotic dance and singing is nice and makes you want to participate. It lasts over an hour, so bring time with you. We liked it very much. It's a nice view into the balinesean culture

This was something different you can do in ubud. Show is presented every tuesday evening and it lasts for an hour. The show was supposed to be first on an open space but right when it was about to start it started to rain, and immediately they had a plan b, and show was changed to a place with roof... More
