Having done several Balinese cooking classes around Ubud in the past, well, this one is easily the best. Small group (max12) starting with hotel pick up/drop off, highly informative and relaxed amble through the local market, and a very well organised and interesting cooking class all in a lovely home compound setting. The principle guides, Made mainly on the market... More

A group of us attended the Lobong Culinary Experience during a recent visit to Ubud. It was absolutely fantastic. I can't fault the experience. If you want an authentic look at Balinese food as well as the way of life, this shouldn't be missed. It was a privilege to be welcomed into your home. Thank you :)

Highly recommend this for something unique and more authentic. I've been to a few cooking experiences in Bali and this is far superior to even the 'number 1' ranking one. The host and staff were wonderful and warm. It was very interactive, intimate and loved sitting around a big long table at the end to feast and enjoy getting to... More

We were recommended to try Lobong Cooking School in Ubud. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! Day started off early by visiting the local markets (not tourist market) and we were shown and explained the ingredients. Then we went drove to a Family Compound and were explained how a Balinese Family Compound works - really interesting. Then we tried our hand at prepping... More

We had a great day, both the market place and the cooking experience. The guide at the market was very informative and clear at explaining the types of fruits etc. although it was a bit like Ferris B day off.. anyone? anyone? anyone? The only regret here was when he showed us the Vanilla Beans that cost him only a... More

This is the second time we've done the Lobong class - this time we took our teenage kids along. And we all LOVED it. Gracious hosts, so knowledgeable and keen to share insights into their life and home and family, as well as sharing their considerable cooking knowledge. The market tour was fabulous too. Seriously can't recommend this enough -... More

The Lobong cooking class came recommended to us, and I'm glad we did it. Made was our guide. He picked us up and took us to the local market. We were the only tourists there. His english is absolutely wonderful, and he has great jokes! He showed us all sorts of things - local culinary delicacies - suckling pig for... More

This is a must do. An eager and energetic guide at the markets, explained the spices and ingredients used for our cooking. An experience it was to be taken back to his home with an immersion of family life and culture in Bali. The preparation and cooking was supported by informative, interactive demonstrations of each cooking process culminating in a... More

We have been wanting to participate in an authentic Bali cooking experience, as both my wife and daughter are great cooks Inc. Indian curries etc. Having researched TA we were suitably impressed that Lobong offered us a more authentic menu and experience than was offered by other similar cooking schools. As we were staying out at the Padma Ubud (near... More
