About
This cultural venue, also called Puri Saren Agung, was once the residence of the royal family of Ubud. Immerse in Balinese culture through traditional performances staged every evening in its main pavilion. Look forward to performances like the traditional barong and legong dances, that depict epic tales like the Ramayana and Mahabharata, vibrant costumes, and performed to live music created using local artistes and traditional instruments. There are different performances staged throughout the week so you can expect something new with every visit. You can purchase tickets at the door but arrive at least 30 minutes earlier to secure good seats in the house. – Tripadvisor

Colourful , evocative and entertaining dance extravaganza
Fantastic dance show that is enjoyable, accessible and evocative. We loved the colour and pageantry. It is performed by a very proud local community and at 100k Rp it is really great value. From what discovered this is definitely the dance show to visit while in Ubud.

    Beautiful dance performance
Amazing opportunity to see traditional Balinese dance in a beautiful setting. Prices are low and it was easy to get tickets at the entrance the same day. We sat on folding chairs, close to the stage so the view was great. We heard the mosquitos could be bad, so we were prepared with insect repelland nd it was no problem. Vendors selling drinks. We got there about 30 minutes early to ensure we had good seats. Should not be missed to see a piece of Balinese culture!

An amazing cultural experience in Ubud
Such an amazing experience! I went on my solo trip to Ubud and this was definitely a highlight. Read the stories and background on the performances before they start to get the most out of it. I would just recommend getting there as soon as they start putting chairs out as I imagine it would have been hard to see if you were much further back than I was (I was in the second row but am quite short and was behind a tall kid wearing a hat the whole time 😅). Also - bring enough water to drink and mosquito repellent. It's quite hard to get up and out once you're in, until the performance ends. This is an experience I would definitely recommend doing while you're in Ubud!

    Amazing cultural experience
This was a great way to see the lovely local dance culture. The setting is amazing, and the performers are really clever. Make sure you go early in well before 7 if you want a good seat as it gets packed out.

Nothing special, but good to see from a cultural perspective
The dance was good to see from a cultural perspective, they provide a brochure to help explain what is occurring and the dancers were all well rehearsed. It does get packed out and therefore its good to get there early to get a good seat. The show lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

Would definitely not recommend spending either time or money on the show. Way too many people and a boring show

The perormance starts at 7.30pm at a cost of Rp100,000. Past reviewers recommend arriving 30 minutes early but I would suggest arriving even earlier. Due to having to wait for transport I ended up arriving at 7.15pm and the place was packed. I spotted one lone plastic chaired and grabbed it.
I thought the performance was very professional and entertaining. The barong dance was the one I wanted to see and I wasn't disappointed. I can recommend to everyone to experience one of these shows.

There are a few shows in various locations around Ubud. You will get hounded to buy a ticket. Just do one. Whatever suits your itinerary. I was free the Saturday evening, there was a show on at Ubud Palace so purchased a ticket and went! Ticket price August 2022 was only 100,000 IDR. Starts on time 19:30 (little before even) and ends just before 21:00. Get there around 19:00 as seats are not allocated. I thought I was early but it was already half full and it had only just turned 19:00. The performance is in the open. Some seats are sheltered and others not. Some are seated on the floor or wooden chairs. There is also an area by the tree and other places. Loads of seating options. I got a side seat on a wooden chair which was fine. If like me you get bitten by anything and everything, spray yourself in deet and cover up! You can purchase nibbles and drinks. Show starts on time. Some people came late and had to stand. Full. The ticket also acts as a programme which gives you a brief description about each dance. I don't want to spoil it but basically the performance is split into around 9 cultural dances each lasting around ten minutes plus or minus. There is no interval. It was nice. I travel a lot and enjoy doing these things in various countries and Ubud is the 'cultural heart' of Bali. This was good but some of it was very similar and I did get a little bored at times. The music and costumes were nice. I did notice other people feeling the same and some left early. I stayed till the end and I would recommend going. Annoyingly, some people managed to walk in free after the performance had started as the staff checking tickets had gone! A bit unfair to people like me who paid. If you don't mind seeing part of a performance and standing at the back, you can do this! Let's be honest, not really right. We need to support tourism more so now than ever. There are toilets on the premises too.
