It was a story of a tiger and a monkey, the king and princess, forest people, and evil spirits
It was interresting and very funny at times. I really enjoyed it! I think it was Rp150,000 which is $15 Australian.

This was a complete waste of time and money.

I can't beleive I got up early on my holiday to go here. The driver told us it was a great cultural event. In other words he made a commission by taking gullible tourists like us there.

Within 10 mintues of this so called show starting, customers were already getting up and leaving. Most of those that stayed were already playing on their mobiles hoping that the end of this show would come quickly.

Thank God I had mobile reception which made the remaining 50 minutes bearable.

There is nothing cultural about this show. It is yet another tourist trap that drivers take people to as they would receive a small commission for it.

We were under the impression that we would be seeing traditional Balinese Dancing. Well we did, for about 3 minutes with the rest of the time watching a few grown men in dirty costumes running around the stage acting drunk.

This is one to avoid when your driver suggests it.

On a recent day trip in Bali our driver stopped off at the Barong & Kris Dance show, very interesting and enjoyable. The dance and music tells a mystical Balinese story.

Really enjoyable.

I do not want to be rude but it was the worst traditional show I have ever seen. It was hard for me to imagine how they can stage such a show and include it as part of a tour. I thought it was a total waste of time because I do not understand anything they showed and said. Right after the first segment I already wanted to leave because it has no entertainment value. What made it even worse was that the actors, the costumes, and even the stage looked dirty. I can’t believe I actually paid it. This is definitely one activity in Bali I wouldn’t recommend.

This show is about Barong dance and Keris (or Kris) knife shows, you must read the guidance given to understand and appreciate the show.
I think many bad reviews were given because they didn’t read the guidance or left before the shows ends or having the wrong expectations. Bali has many types of dance and Barong dance is definitely not the same with Kecak or other type of dance. The monkey character was actually very entertaining, adding comedy factor to the show.
It’s definitely a show that must not be missed while in Bali.

There is nothing spectacular about this place or the show. 100,000IDR and absolute waste of an hour in the early morning wake up to catch this show. Not even the kids are entertained. Having watched Asian culture shows in many Asian countries, this is one of the worse show in town. Balinese dances are usually awesome BUT just not at this show.

Sold as a cultural show, but it is too hard to follow and with no speaking. I dont think anyone would walk away from it thinking they'd had a 'cultural' experience. It drags on and on and on for around one hour, it felt like three hours. A very small amount of dance from two ladies and I could tell it's something about good spirit V's evil spirit but thats it. Too boring, not educational at all, bit of a waste of time really.

only one hour, and boring, too.
Surely not good for us because this is a dance but a story, too.
I Know that we are in Bali and so we have to see this, but not very nice.

This is a useful 30 minute insight into Balinese culture. The costumes are bright and impressive and give a good idea of traditionsl balinese costume dress, music and dancing style. Its an interesting spectacle.

We left after 30 minutes. Bad actors, since it’s not really dancing (except for the two ladies). Save yourself 100.000 rp p.p and find something else to do unless you like this kind of torture.
